Ashely Morgan Posey

A little noise left my mouth as I sit crouching in the mud of an uncharted path in the woods. I didn't mean to run this far... Why had I gone so deep into the woods? I slung my hair back into a thick bun, clipped my bangs back, and started walking to find the beaten path. I checked my phone for the time. "Four o'clock." I sighed at my phone. No signal.

"Fantastic. I have no idea how far I am from town, I have no signal to call anybody, and it's getting dark." My tennis shoes were muddy, my shorts were wet from the ground, and my shirt was ripped by a branch."Never again will I exercise." I through my hoodie over my head and started running again. The grass, twigs, and mud were hard enough to trudge through in my soaked sneakers, and then the rain came. "Ah, hell." Up ahead, I could see some light shining... which meant there weren't any trees, which meant in was the end of the woods. I ran faster through the muddy slopes to the open fields of green grass.

I stopped in amazement. That's the only way I know how to describe it. Amazing. It was a house... a very largehouse. With a very large gate. I ran up the grass, onto the concrete, and buzzed a red button to open the gate.

"May I help you?" A male voice came through a small speaker. Water fell over my lips as I licked at them before I spoke.

"Um, yeah. I was running and got to far off the path. It started raining and I lost my way... My phone doesn't have signal." I said feebly, freezing.

A buzzing sound occurred before the gate opened slowly. I smiled as I started running up to the large white house. Platforms hung over air with glass railing. A large chrome door was shining in the little light that the clouds would allow. Thunder and lightning ruptured through the sky. I ran faster towards the door. I knocked a couple of times before I heard footsteps running through the house. Lightning struck again. I screamed and beat on the door a little harder. The footsteps stopped in front of the door.

The door opened quickly and a hand reached out and grabbed me by the shoulders, pulling me into the fancy house. I screamed again... force of habit.

The hand went over my mouth as a blondish/brown-haired, blue-eyed boy started speaking in his thick Irish accent. "Shhh! I'm not supposed to let fans in. But, in this case, it's an emergency."

I took his hand off of my mouth to speak. "Fan? Who are you?" I said quietly.

He looked confused. "I'm Niall. Niall Horan? From One Direction..?"he named off things about his band, but nothing came to mind.

"I'm sorry... Niall?" He nodded at his name. "I'm sorry, Niall, but I have no clue who you are. I sort of live under a rock..."

He laughed a little. "That's all right. Actually, that's great. Now I won't get in trouble. Come on in." He gestured for me to follow him. "It's gonna be storming pretty bad for a couple of days, and Mumford, our butler, just told us that the roads are flooded, so we can't get out of the mansion's gates." Niall looked back at me with a grin. "You're stuck here for about five days."

I rolled my eyes. "Joy. Won't my landlord be glad to hear that."Niall laughed.

"We're not so bad." He stated. "Hey..." He said, stopping. "I never got your name."

"Oh."I stammered while taking off my hoodie. "It's Alyssa. Alyssa Davey... But everyone calls me Lyss."

Niall nodded, "Lyss. Got it!"
