chapter four: sweetheart, darling and so much more
DAVID'S TAXI PULLED up outside his house, his lips, wrists and neck still tingling from Simon's touch. He couldn't stop grinning. Thanking the driver and handing him a £10 note, he stepped out of the car and his feet hit the cold tarmac of the pavement. He shuddered a little as a gust of wind swept his hair back, but it didn't stop his mind from constantly replaying how Simon had pinned him against a wall and kissed him. Slotting his key in the door and shutting it behind him, he headed to the kitchen to see Matt laden with boxes of Dominoes Pizza. He had texted David twenty minutes ago, just as he got into the cab, asking what pizza he wanted. David had chosen pepperoni, whilst Matt had gone for ham and pineapple.
"Hi Dave, how was y-" Matt began to say, before his eyes fixated on the large purplish bruise growing on the side of David's neck. His lips were swollen and slightly chapped, his hair a little messy. Matt raised his eyebrows at the tall man, a smug look on his face.
"What?" David asked, confused as to why he was staring at him.
Matt managed to hold back a grin, and asked, "Is there anything you'd like to tell me?"
David furrowed his eyebrows. He had decided not to mention what had happened today until tomorrow, when it had really settled in. Matt had no way of knowing about that, so what else would he have to tell him?
"No?" he replied, confused.
"So you don't want to explain why you have a huge hickey on your neck, or why your lips are swollen, or why your hair is such a mess?" Matt smirked satisfactorily, making David blush.
"No, I don't." David retorted, grinning.
"You made out with Simon!" Matt suspected, laughing at his flustered state.
"Give me the fucking pizza, and then I'll explain."

That night, Simon sat in his home office whilst Lauren was asleep. He was 'working', and by 'working' he meant analysing what had happened today. He didn't know what had made him do what he did, but an undeniable feeling of lust had overcome him and he couldn't control it. A knock on his office door made Simon raise his head, just as he had several hours ago with David.
"Are you coming to bed, Si?" Lauren asked, leaning her head against the wall.
Simon contemplated this decision. He knew that the second his head hit the pillow beside Lauren, guilt would flood through his body. At least, that's what happened last time. But he couldn't get David out of his mind. It was almost as though the man's features had been engraved into his mind, unable to be removed.
"No, I can't, I have more work to do." Simon answered, making her smile sadly and return to their bedroom.
David reached over to his bedside table and pulled on the lamp cord, making the room fade quickly into darkness. He shifted his body down so his head was resting on the cold white pillows and shut his eyes, replaying every moment he'd shared with Simon in his mind. David had no idea where the confidence to kiss Simon had arisen from, as he'd been spent five years working with the man but never mustered up the courage to ever do so.
