Chapter 11

Seeing this made me call off all the power, I pulled it back and was relived to see the cloud had disappeared.  I was about to draw it back but I heard my name called, spun around and accidentally released a flame in the direction of the person, thankfully I missed.

"Whoa," Jake said, "That time when you spun around you actually did catch a flame!" he laughed.

I joined him, not so much what he said was funny it was more like giggling with relief that he didn't start yelling at me to keep my powers under control.

Once our laughter slowly stopped I asked  "What are you doing out here?"

"I came out here to see why you were out here," he replied, "So why are you out here?"

"I just needed to be alone for a while," I replied.

"Ah, well we should go back," Jake said.

I nodded and followed him back to the wreckage.

  "Jake?" I asked.

  "Yeah,"

"Can I see how Uncle Roy is doing?"

  "Of course.  Follow me."

We walked to a tent they had set up for the medical tent and I peered inside, my uncle was the only one in there, he was lying on the ground on a blanket.  I sat down next to him and whispered softly, "Hey."

  He opened his eyes, "Hi."

I smiled, "How are you feeling?"

"Better than before, the medics say I should be outta here by tomorrow."

"Thats good," I said, Jake motioned we had to go, "Well, I better go," I said standing.

  "Bye," Uncle Roy replied.

We walked out of the tent, and I looked at Jake and smiled, "Tomorrow."

  He frowned and whispered, "Tomorrow."

We walked back to our little spot where Maine and Jen were talking, "Hey guys," I said.

  "Hi Serena," Maine said.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

  "Oh just stuff," Jen said.

  "Oh okay," I smiled.

Jake said, "Alright guys I gotta go get something,  I'll be right back."

We talked a bit.  When Jake came back he was carrying four bows and four quivers full of arrows.

"What are those for?" Maine asked.

"These are for hunting, I'll teach you how to use them," Jake replied.

He led us to a quiet place and loaded an arrow, he aimed and in a split second a squirrel fell out of a tree with an arrow in his chest.  Jake went and collected the rodent while we each grabbed a bow and quiver.  He showed us how to aim right and how to hold  the bow so you can aim longer without your arm getting tired.  I got a rabbit.  But barely.  I hit its leg and it almost got away.  We all got a little something, which we cooked up and ate.  By the time our little hunting outing was over it was dark, so we went back to camp and went to sleep.  Dreams left me alone for that night.

I woke up to a trumpet sound. I looked over to Maine, she rolled over and put a pillow that was salvaged from the wreckage over her head.

I smiled and stood up, Jake was getting our bows, I figured I'd help him.
