Chapter 16
Maine pushed us down the hall until we got to the room where Kayan was sitting on a plush couch.
It was now I noticed Maine had two diffrent colored eyes, when she left they were both green, now one was green and the other blue.
"Thank you Maine," Kayan said, she glared at us, whenever she stares at you it looks like she is about to strangle you. "Take them to the cages."
Maine shoved me and Jen to two cages in the corner, they looked like human sized dog cages, only these wouldn't melt under fire or breack under any pressure.
Maine walked over to Kayan and smiled, "Shall we proceed?"
"Yes," Kayan said, "Get to the monitor."
Maine walked over to a plaque like the other ones we saw that opened doors and what not. She pointed at and it temporarily turned to gold then it turned to a screen, she tapped at it until there was a humming sound and three monsters appeared in cages across the room.
"Lovely," Kayan said, "Send them to the basement."
Maine tapped the screen a few more times and the monsters dissappeared.
"Where did they go?" I asked.
"Quiet!" Kayan screamed. That woman had issues.
Maine made a few more monsters, "How long do you think until we have a full army?"
"A week maximum," Kayan said in a soothing tone.
"Will I be around for it?" Maine seemed to trip on her words.
"Hmm we shall see," Kayan decided.
Maine looked down at her hands on the screen and she squinted her eyes, she gasped and fell to the floor Kayan rushed to her, Maine seemed to be fighting herself, she squirmed and writhed when Kayan wraped her hands around her throat and gently blew on her forehead. Maine calmed, her eyes gently opened and she said softly, "I'm sorry for this inconvenience."
"Control yourself!" Kayan harshly demanded standing up and striding back to the couch, she seated herself, took a deep breath and spoke, "Take them to their holding cells," She layed down on the couch.
Maine shoved us down the hall until we got to a door marked holding cells, Mained opened the door and inside it looked like a prison would two thousand years ago, it was dark, dirty, filthy, and the toilet was a hole in the floor, there were four cells divided by a stone wall. Maine shoved me in the first cell on the right, and she then shoved Jen in the cell accross from me.
Before Maine left I got her attention, "What happened?" I asked.
"What do you mean?" Maine asked.
"Why did you start writhing on the floor in Kayan's office?"
She pursed her lips and closed her eyes, "It was an inconvenience," She managed.
"Inconvenience?"
"Yes."
"What happened?"
She closed her eyes, "I would be killed if I explained."
"Exactly," I said, "Why do you listen to her?"
I had seen her eyes getting closer to normal colored, now they went back to one completely blue and one completely green, "Why do you care," Maine spat, "She promises more then anyone ever could!" She seethed, "You just wait, I will be the one you will bow down to!" With this she stormed out of the room.
