Chapter 9
I stayed on my couch and watched TV most of the rest of the day. I heared a knock on my door, I went and opened it. Jake stood at the door, "Dinner in ten minutes," he said.
"Alright," I mumbled closing the door.
He put his hand on the door and pushed it open, "I feel like I owe you an apology," he began.
"Why would you need to do that," I said sarcastically turning around and walking away.
"I'm sorry I overreacted, "he began, "I shouldn't have made it sound like you were some kind of monster."
"Why would I feel like that," I replied sarcastically.
"Can you forgive me?" he asked.
"Of course," I said, "I'm not a kind of girl who holds grudges, and it wasn't that big a deal."
"Ok,"Jake smiled, "You better get ready for dinner, because its in five minutes and your hair is a mess."
I gasped and ran for the bathroom, sure enough my hair was a mess, I grabbed a brush and hurried through it.
After a few minuites I hurried downstairs where everyone was waiting for me.
"Alright lets go," Jake said.
We walked back to the entrance room and went down the stairs. Once we got to the bottom we went in a door on the right of the room, we went down a hall and into a door at the end of the hall. I gasped, I had been doing alot of that in the in past two days. The room had polished white tile floors and it was easily as big as the entrance room. In the center was a beautiful table, it looked like it could easily seat fifty people. The walls were a cream color white.
"Could this get any better?" Maine said.
Jake laughed, "follow me."
He led us to four open seats, we sat down. I remembered most of the kids from swordplay, I should describe some of them, Jack, a boy about fifteen years old with blond hair and he always found something to smile or laugh about. Jasmine, a girl who was about sixteen with light brown hair and a spoiled attitude. Hannah, who was about ten years old with caramel color hair would easily turn something sad or quiet into something funny or enjoyable. Shay, who had blonde long curly hair and she always thought she was the best. Those were the ones I could recall, the other names I just couldn't remember.
There was so much talking and laughing that evening, it felt like I was with a group of friends I had known all my life. We went back to our rooms and went straight to bed, I got ready and slid into bed. I had a really bad feeling as I was falling asleep, I couldn't place it but I knew it was very bad.
I woke to a shreik, it was one o'clock in the morning. There was a muffled scream and I was out of bed. I peeked out a crack in the door and saw a person, I don't know what to call him so I'll just call him a ninja, slipping out of Jen's room. I panicked. I ran to my dresser and tried to remember Jake's words if there's ever an attack put on this outfit, I scrambled through the drawers and finally found the shirt and pants, they looked normal black but Jake assured me there was a reason for them.
I changed into them and slipped out the door and into Jen's room, she lay on the floor unconscious, I made sure she was breathing and went to go see Maine. There was a man in her room with his arm around her throat, obviously choking her. I knew I had to get a form of offence, so I ran down to our little swordplay arena, grabbed a sword that adjusted to the perfect weight and went back upstairs. I slid quietly into Maine's room and ran right for Maine. The ninja darted to the other side of the room dropping Maine and drew his sword. I charged him and tried the few moves I had learned. He was good, I could barely block his blows, he swung his sword for my head and my sword went up to block it. It was a moment after I had done it I realized how stupid that was. I ducked with my sword in the air popping out my shoulder. I winced and fell to the floor. The ninja guy held his sword over my heart preparing to kill me. I writhed there for a minuite when Jake broke into the room. He took off after the ninja and dropped his sword. Not something I would of done. He held his hand out at the ninja and shot ice, it froze the ninja in his steps.
