   Chapter 13

I screamed, how could this happen? Who was in this house?

"Serena!" Carrie said, "You go get Uncle Roy, Jen look around for who or what stabbed Maine while I see if I can help her."

I nodded and ran out of Maine's room, I flew down the stairs,"Uncle Roy?" I yelled.

He stepped out from the kitchen, "Good morn- wait whats wrong?"

"Maine got stabbed! we need help, mom wants you upstairs."

"Sure thing," Uncle Roy raced up the stairs.

I followed, once I entered Maine's room I saw Uncle Roy helping Mom get the knife out of Maine's side.

   "What should I do?"I asked.

   "Go help Jen," Carrie said.

"Shouldn't I call the cops or an ambulance?"

"No," Carrie said, "This is beyond what they could help us with."

"Couldn't they help with the knife?" I asked.

"No, this blade was poisoned so it would do more harm," Uncle Roy said, "If they would see this they would write her off as dead."

   "Is she?"

"No," Uncle Roy said, "We know better, we know that she isn't dead, she is fighting the poison, if we work at it we can force the poison out of her system then clean the wound."

   "Ok, where's Jen?"

"She said she'd comb through all the rooms to make sure whatever stabbed Maine is gone," Carrie said.

I headed over to the other rooms, I slipped between rooms until I found Jen searching a closet, her sword drawn.

"Did you find anything?" I asked.

"No, but it definitely wasn't a beast of Jahar," She said, "There is no evidence of any rabid killing beast through here. Whatever it was, it was smart, so it could slip through the house quickly and quietly.

"So do you think it left?" I asked.

"Yes, the only place I didnt look is under your blouse." Jen said.

  I smiled.

We walked back to Maine's  room, "How's she doing?" I asked.

"Better, we got the poison out now we're working on cleaning the wound," Carrie said, "I think she'll be okay."

"Oh thank goodness," I said with a sigh of relief.

"Did you girls get any hint of what stabbed her?" Uncle Roy asked.

"I did find it definitely wasn't a beast of Jahar," Jen said.

   "Hmm," Uncle Roy sighed.

"Do you have any idea what it could've been?" I asked.

   "I don't have a clue," He said.

"I do," Carie said, she looked at Uncle Roy, "Could it have been Cad?"

"Cad!" Uncle Roy said, "Thats impossible!"

"Well maybe when they released the beasts of Jahar they got him out too," Carrie said.

Uncle Roy looked puzzled, "But they couldn't do that! Cad was thrown into the deepest part of Geron! They could never get him out!"
