Mondays mean a different thing to everybody. Whether you're struggling to stay awake during school or barely being able to finish something at work, they always exist. Adleigh loved Mondays. For some odd reason, it was only because she had great classes lined up on Mondays. Ever since primary school she had her favorite classes on Monday. Now that she was in her first year at university she got to choose the classes and was even happier to see the ones she was truly excited about all fell on a Monday. This Monday, she had her first classes of the year and then work right after. Laken, on the other hand, despised Mondays. She purposefully planned to take classes only on Tuesdays through Fridays but take more of them to get the right amount of credits.
She was sitting on her kitchen counters swinging her legs and eating Cheerios when her phone rang. She peered down at the screen to see her mom was ringing.
"Hi mom!"
"Hi lovie," of course her mom would call her the most embarrassing nickname now that she was legally an adult, "I was just calling to ask how you're liking the new apartment and to wish you luck on your first day!"
"We love the new apartment thank you so much for helping us find it, and yanno helping us pay for it. We really appreciate it."
"Aw that's great, sweetie! I'm glad I could help!"
"Also thank you, I will try to have the best first day anyone could have. I start a new job after too!"
"Wonderful! I have to go now because of Fletcher, you know how he is. Love you lovie!"
"You go do that. I love you! Bye"
Adleigh hung up and sighed happily. Not going to lie, she was nervous, but her mom completely settled her down. She checked her school bag one final time to make sure she had the correct books and materials. She checked her appearance before walking out the door and into the adult world.

It was 1:30 when Adleigh entered her last class of the day, "Criticism and Theory". She was early enough to find a good seat where she could still see but not be too close. It was 1:31 when Fionn felt a presence beside him. He too was a first year attending "Criticism and Theory". He didn't bother to look up. 'Probably some annoying girl who just wants to know what I'm writing'. But for some reason, he felt the need to look up, so he did. There sat the one and only, at least out of those he had met, Adleigh Creed. He quickly looked back down at his paper. There was no way in hell he was going to talk to her. To be blunt, he didn't like her. He was a nice guy, but something about her annoyed him beyond degree. Maybe it was the stupid pink raincoat that just looked like his yellow one, or maybe even the fact that she liked a book he could relate so greatly to. They seemed too much alike, and like the age old saying, only opposites attract. Of course with his luck, she recognized him.
"Oh hey Fionn, I see you're in this class too. Looks like I'll have a friend."
"I came here to learn not make friends."
"Oh."
Her face fell to a frown. He had been so nice to her the other day. Had she done something wrong? And to think she thought she made a friend. All she could think was 'I'm an idiot, aren't I?'.
It hurt Fionn to be so rude and abrupt with her, but he didn't enjoy wasting time. Especially on people. He was a very secluded person. The only time he felt like he could be an open book was when writing. Even at that, he thought his writing was mediocre compared to what he read so often. He made it his life goal to never open up to people, for they would only break his trust. He was unsure of just about everything in his life, but one thing he could guarantee was that Adleigh Creed would be the last person on earth to ever gain his trust.
