Fionn should have known that sunny days wouldn't be a reoccurring thing that week, but he insisted on not carrying his raincoat in hopes that it might lighten up just for him. Now that he was stuck walking to the bookstore in a torrential downpour, he highly regretted his naive decision. His yellow rain coat was normally always with him, mainly because it's always raining in London, and he had gotten used to the bright color contrasting with his dark outfits. For a while, he hated the rain jacket. He received it for Christmas from his best friend right before the incident. After that, he couldn't put it on without feeling sick. Fionn was pulled out of his thoughts when he finally arrived at Trodd's Book Nook. The door bell rung when he pushed open the front door. There on top of the front counter sat Adleigh swinging her legs and stacking books. He rolled his eyes when her squeaky voice spoke.

"Hey Fionn! How are you?"

"I'm fine. Thanks."

Adleigh sighed. She was just trying to be nice which apparently isn't good enough for the Fionn Whitehead. She peered at his appearance.

"Did you run through a water park fully clothed? You're soaking."

"Nah, I forgot my rain coat."

"Oh, the yellow one?"

"Do you see it on me?"

Adleigh dragged out her "Noooo."

"Then yes, smart one."

Fionn let out a sneeze and sniffled. It wasn't that cold just yet, but it was still cold enough to get sick.

"That's what you get for being a douche when I tried to be nice. Kindly piss off now!"

Adleigh felt more and more mad every time they spoke. He was repulsive, ill mannered, and really just a big pain. She hopped off the counter and scurried towards the children's aisle to place some new picture books. "Why did I tell him to piss off he's probably gonna get sick, and what if he has no one to take care of him?" Adleigh thought to herself.

She glanced at the large clock above her head. It was only quarter past five which meant two more hours until she could go home and get some rest. She had been working longer and earning more money. Enough money to almost be able to purchase the book that started this whole thing. She grinned to herself. She loved this job more than she loved anything else. Being surrounded by books of all genres and lengths made her giddy, especially the books with her favorite fictional characters. She had a thing for guys in books too. Mainly because they weren't annoying like the ones in her life.

One thing led to another and suddenly her mind was drifting to Fionn. His stupidly complicated feelings and behavior. Why couldn't he be just nice or just mean to her? She looked around to find the lanky boy with the pretty glasses. A sneeze rung out and she knew he was somewhere behind her. She whipped her pony tail around to see him further down the aisle. She unknowingly marched towards him and snapped him out of his thoughts with a soft whisper.

"I'm sorry for being rude to you earlier. I really just wanted to be friends with you. I mean it's ok if we aren't, but could you please just be nice?"

Fionn's harsh glare softened. Had she really felt that way?

"It's alright Adleigh, I'm more mad at the fact that I'm soaking wet and getting sick."

Adleigh couldn't hold in her laughter. Through giggles she choked out,
"That's your fault!"

Her laughter quieted and she realized what happened.

"Not that I care or anything. I hope you get the bird flu."

Fionn scoffed.

"If I got bird flu I'd be catching it from you, walking disease."

"Yeah? Good thing I'm not an std because that role is already taken by you."

"I bet you're friends would know if I had an std or not. Pipe down virgin!"

"Who said I'm a virgin?"

"Everyone who's turned you down!"

The pair were yelling by now. With their faces red and the tension rising, the argument got louder and louder.

"Enough!" A loud voice called.

Adleigh and Fionn turned towards the loft to see Mr. Trodd standing with his arms crossed.

"I'm tired of you two being dicks to each other! My office, now!"

The pair walked dreadfully towards Mr. Trodd's desk. They popped open the door and sat down in the seats in front of it. It felt like they were in primary school again.

"Since you both obviously can't work well together I think you will need to do something so you can."

"Pardon me sir, but what's that something?" Adleigh spoke calmly.

"You two will have to start a book club to encourage the youth to read."

"And whoever has the best one gets to keep their job while Adleigh gets fired?" Fionn perked up.

Adleigh rolled her eyes and shoved Fionn back into his chair.

"No, you will have to work together so you can both keep your jobs. Deal?"

Adleigh felt as if she had been making deals way too often lately, but she put her hand out to shake anyway. Fionn following in suit.

"Deal."

Adleigh turned to Fionn and leaned into his ear.

"You screw this up for me and I'll ruin you."

Fionn whispered back, "Game on, Creed. Just remember that I have the book you want."

"Good luck, Whitehead."
