Korra's POV

After I cleaned auntie Rachel's room I found mommy in the kitchen making spaghetti.
"You finished cleaning?"
"I couldn't reach the top of the book shelf but other than that yes."
"Good job baby. Want to help me cook?"
"Sure!" I ran up to her and she handed me a spoon.
"Stir the sauce for me. Are you allergic to anything?"
"I don't think so." She thought hard for a second or two. "I'm gonna have to take you to the doctors then."
I've never been to the doctors before.
"Can I taste the sauce mommy?"
"Sure love." She reached past me and grabbed a smaller spoon. She dipped it in the pot and blowed on it first before she feed it to me. It tasted really good! I think she used the deer I caught in it too!
"Do you like it?"
"Ya! Can I have more?"
"No, dinner is in a couple of minutes. Then you can have as much as you want." I nodded.
*Ding dong*
"That must be Rachel. Do you want to get the door for her puppy?" I shook my head excited and ran to the door.
The second I opened it I was swept off my feet and got a big hug from auntie.
"How's my favorite wolf?"
"I'm good! Mommy cooked dinner for us!"
"Did she now? That's good, I'm starving."
Auntie didn't bother putting me down instead she carried me back into the kitchen.
"How are you Nova?"
"I'm fine, just trying to figure out why you want to stay with me." The room went silent.
"The pasta smells good. Did you use deer?"
Mommy gave a very pointed took to auntie.
"You are going to answer my questions over dinner."

Nova's POV:

I made myself and my puppy a plate and sat us down at the dining room table. Rachel strolled in a minute later and tried to eat without making any eye contact with me. To bad for her my little was to preoccupied with her meal to make conversation.
"Why do you want to live here?"
"I'm tried of living at the pack house."
"Then buy yourself a house. Or rent a apartment."
"I've never lived by myself before."
"So you think you're gonna freeload here?"
"No of course not. I still have my pride. I will pay half the rent and buy all the food."
"I don't need a roommate. I can pay all of my bills."
"I know that but."
"But what?"
"I just really don't want to live there anymore."
"You aren't telling me the whole truth."
"Okay let's just say I may have accidentally slept with someone I wasn't supposed to when I was a little too drunk."
Oh my god. Typical wolves.
"And you need to get out of there as soon as possible so you called me."
"Yes."
Ugh.
"Fine. In return you have to pay half the rent, do all food shopping and babysit korra when I ask no excuses."
"Deal."
"No weed in the house. If you want to smoke do it outside. And no over night guests."
She looked upset with my rules but sighed instead of arguing.
"Okay."
"Good."
"Mommy can I have more?" I turned to see Korra's empty plate. I'm not even halfway through my dinner, how is she finished?
"Sure honey. Sit down I will get it. Rachel, do you have a doctor at the pack house?"
"Um yes, but I really don't want to go back there."
"Well I need to get Korra a check up."
"But!"
"I'm sorry are you not staying here?"
"Okay look, I just don't want to run into the person I'm avoiding. Then on top of that you're a vampire and you aren't really supposed to be their. Then on top of that also Korra is technically a rouge with no real pack affiliation."
"So you can't pull any strings?" She sighed.
"I could but... Couldn't you just take her to the regular doctors?"
"Not on short notice and regular doctors don't know wolf anatomy."
Rachel folded her arms and thought to herself.
"Fuck it fine."
"Thank you." I set down another plate of pasta for my little.
I watched her take very fast bites shoveling the food down.
"Baby slow down and take your time. The food isn't going anywhere and you can have as much as you want." She nodded and looked down. She played with the pasta for a second then pushed the plate away.
"You aren't hungry anymore?" She shrugged.
"That isn't an answer."
"I don't know."
I ran my hand through her hair and kissed her forehead. I don't want to solve this by reading her mind. She needs to talk to me.
I saw tears start forming in her eyes. Oh shit!
I quickly picked her up and took us to our bedroom.
I let her put her head in my chest and she fell apart. Her crying was heartbreaking. All I could do was hold her tight and wait for her to stop crying.
"Please tell me what's wrong. I want to help you."
"I didn't have enough to eat sometimes... I'm sorry... I..." I hushed her and gave her more kisses.
"It's okay. I understand." Living alone she had to depend on herself for everything. Including food so if she couldn't find any I guess she went hungry.
I gave her more affection as she calmed down.
Not wanting to push her anymore I turned out the lights and rocked her to sleep.
------
Mostly I read at night time. But recently I got into Mr. Robot. I had turned it on when Korra went to sleep but I couldn't focus on it. I feel guilty about bringing up bad memories for her.
Do I smell bacon? I don't keep that in the house. Rachel must have brought it. Is it morning already? I've been lost in my thoughts.
I replaced myself with a pillow so Korra could stay asleep. I walked in the kitchen to see bacon and eggs cooking but no Rachel.
Is she trying to burn down the house?! You can't just leave food cooking and not watch it!
A minute later she strolled in yawning.
"Morning Nova."
"Don't morning me. You can't just leave food cooking and not watch it."
"Christ sorry I had to go to the bathroom. How's Korra?"
"Fine I guess. She just...had a hard past. Don't make her feel awkward about what happened at the table."
"Oh. Well do you think she wants some breakfast?"
"Ya she needs to eat." Grabbing food we walked into my bedroom. Rachel suddenly shifted into her wolf and pounced on Korra.
I heard her delightful giggles. Before I knew it two wolves were wrestling on my bed.
"Okay that's enough you too brake it up."
Korra's tail was wagging hard as she looked at us.
This is gonna be a good day.
