Ever since the incident, Erik has been in and out of the hospital. He would have sudden outbursts of anger and he would have to take medicine. Christine was always afraid of what Erik would do to Gustave and herself. After a few weeks, Erik had begun to change. Every time he would greet Christine, there was always a hint of seduction. He would always touch her in places she didn't like. Erik would always stay in his rooms and at times, drink heavily. As the day of the performance neared, Christine began to worry about Erik. What would he do at the performance? She asked herself every night before falling asleep.
"Christine!" Erik's voice called for her from upstairs. Christine jumped up and ran up the stairs. When she entered their bedroom, she saw Erik smiling at her. She stood by the doorway with a confused look. "Is something the matter?" She asked. She approached her husband carefully and he took a deep breath. "Christine, I'm sorry for the trouble I've caused. I know it hurts you." Christine smiled at her husband. "Oh Erik." She brought him into a hug. "I married you because I love you. I don't care what you look like or act. As long as we're happy together, everything is complete." Christine said. Erik smiled softly down at his wife. Gustave entered the room and stared at his father. Erik noticed the small child and began to become tense. "Erik? Are-are you okay?" Fear spread throughout Christine's body. Erik's body language changed from loving to angry. Erik gritted his teeth at Gustave. Gustave began to shake. "Erik? Erik!" Christine said. She shook her husband awake and Erik snapped out of his daze. "I-I'm so sorry Gustave." Erik ran past his son with his face in his hands. Erik ran straight into his study and slammed the door.
Christine approached the door and knocked softly. "Erik? Are-are you okay?" She asked. She heard items being thrown and screams. "Erik! Please! Open the door!" She yelled. She looked back at little Gustave. He was still shaken from what had happened. Christine looked back at the door and saw it open a crack. "What is it?" He asked in a dark tone. "Erik, please. We can take you to a therapist. You aren't yourself." Christine said. There was silence. Erik nodded through the darkness. Christine smiled at him and Erik opened the door wide open. "Let's go."
