Christine indeed was concerned for her husband. A man whom had done no wrong surely didn't deserve this. On the way there, Christine couldn't help but think of what was to come. Erik didn't seem well enough to carry on but why? What had brought him down so easily? What troubled him to the very core?
The door opened slightly and the doctor looked up at the couple. Erik took a deep breath and Christine pushed him inside. "Come on Erik." She said. "It's best for you." She whispered. Erik tried to put a smile on his face but to no avail. Why should he be happy? The doctor studied Erik for a moment till something struck him as off. "Monsieur, your face. Why?" The doctor had many questions on his mind but Erik didn't wish to speak. "Please don't remind him. It isn't a pleasant thing for him." Christine managed to at least stop the doctor from setting Erik off.
Erik had grown tense within the first few minutes of entering the office. Everything around him had created a strong feeling of dread and panic. The friendly attitude didn't help either because Erik just couldn't trust him. Erik had trust issues ever since his accident. He was afraid of what society would do to him. "So Monsieur Destler, tell me.....what have you been having recently?" The doctor looked down at his clipboard and got ready to write.
"Well, I keep having th-these vivid nightmares about.....w-w-well.....it's hard to explain." Erik couldn't stop himself from stuttering out the words he wished to say but they didn't make sense to the doctor. He squeezed Christine's hand and Christine gave him a soft smile in response. "It'll be okay." She whispered gently. Erik didn't seem to think so. "Go on." The doctor said. Erik nodded and his hands became clammy and sweaty. Oh dear God! His eyes darted around the room and landed on Christine several times. Erik heard screams inside his mind and he looked at the doctor. "Erik?" Christine held Erik's hand but Erik smacked it in response.
Erik felt his heart beat wildly in his chest. He couldn't take in a breath. "Monsieur?" The doctor asked. Then, Erik froze. Silence filled the room while they both studied Erik. "Anxiety attacks sometimes." Erik responded then gave Christine a smile. But Christine knew something wasn't right. "That's all?" The doctor asked. Erik nodded without saying a single word. The doctor walked around the room and took out a bottle from a drawer. "Take this and return to me in 3 to 4 months." The doctor wrote down his prescription for Erik and Erik headed off in a frantic run.
Christine and the doctor looked at one another. "I wish you the best of luck." The doctor said. "You too." Christine said. Her mind soon began to wander onto Erik's strange behavior.
