There was a brief pause as no one said anything. All you could do was stare at the envelope resting on the table, and then to the thin wispy paper resting between your mother's fingers. If your parents weren't present you were quite sure a string of curse words would be flowing from your mouth in that very moment. But all you could do was sit in awe as a slight frustration began to bubble up into your chest.
"Did they include reasons why?" You asked, sanking further into the couch, gradually pushing into Tyler's personal space. He didn't seem to mind as a light snore came from his nose, in response.
"Apparently you're failing two classes which isn't allowed for scholarships students." There was a lack of sympathy in your mother's tone as she spoke, and you father, for the most part decided to just stay silent. "I really want to ask you what you've been up to lately. It's not like you to return home this late... and you've never done poorly in classes before. You know we can't afford this."
You bit your tongue instead of talking back. How were you suppose to casually mention that the attention of two twins constantly bothering you was a bit time consuming and stressful? Usually, you could manage but apparently your school work was beginning to suffer.
Maybe this time, there would be no turning back or second chances.
"I think for now you should go to your room and rest," your father's tone was rigid, but most of all, he simply sounded tired. Unlike your mom, who was quite ready to pick a fight with you about your odd behavior or give you a good scolding.
"You can meet with the Dean of the school tomorrow he's already set a free time for you during your next study. But for now," your dad stood up. If the situation wasn't so serious you were quite sure you would've been grinning at the fact he had on cat slippers. He went to your side and patted your head. "Just get some sleep okay?"
You only nodded your head again. This hurt a bit more than you were expecting.
"Tyler's fine on the couch, just make sure you give him a blanket before your fall asleep. Good night Y/N," were the final words your mother spoke before she exited herself. Your mother was never one to hide her true emotions and this situation was no different. She was displeased and obviously held higher expectations for you.
How lovely of you to screw that up.

Once you took a short shower (that you sulked in) and changed into comfortable pjs, you decided to mute your phone for the rest of the night. Any incoming calls or texts wouldn't be heard, and you'd be left to wallow in your thoughts about how you could fix the situation you had put yourself in.
Grabbing an extra blanket from the mountain you had on your bed, you walked back into the livingroom prepared to give it to a sleeping Tyler. Instead, you saw the brunette up and watching the television in the low volume while he ate your secret stash of cookies.
He looked at you, and his green eyes widened as cookie crumbs dusted his cheeks. "Yo."
"Don't yo me," you grunted as you walked towards him quietly, and stole a cookie. "How did you even find my secret stash?"
He scooted over on the couch, offering you a spot. You gladly obliged, and wrapped the blanket over both of your shoulders. Apparently your dad was right- you needed sleep. As soon as you could finally rest, your shoulders slumped over and you felt a tiring weight on your body.
