Looking back at my life, it has been nothing more than a lie, a web of lies. "You can do it" was just a phrase that made me feel good on the darkest of days but it had no meaning to them. They left, they just left without saying goodbye. They turned my life upside down in the best possible way and the two came to sweep me off of my feet. Now almost 2 years after leaving they stand right in front of me, as if they never left. Their goofy grins and messy hair. Their perfect sculpted bodies. Their million dollar smile that wasn't showing currently. "What do you think you are doing here?" I asked with sass and spite.

"We are back, for good this time," The twin with the wing earring said shyly.

"Did you come back unannounced or was that another thing I should be blindsided by your arrival?" The twins looked back and forth between one another and the other one stated, "No blindsiding Mel, we didn't tell anyone." They were on my driveway and staring at me like I should continue to speak. I had nothing to say. Those boys were a huge part of my life and them leaving without warning tore me apart. But now I'm standing on my own without them. I never needed them. I was taken back into a flashback

Flashback

"Last one to the river is a rotten egg!" Ethan shouted and I ran like I never did before. My legs were burning and I did not want to be the one to be thrown into the lake...again. I continued to run until I stopped to take a break. I took note of the flowers growing on the grass along side the dirt pathway. I took note of the trees beautiful green leaves when I saw a topless guy running past me. Grayson caught up to me and completely took the lead from under my nose. I started running again and my legs were killing me.  I finally made it to the dock where the boys were waiting for me. "Hey! No fair! I WAS BASICALLY DYING!" I shouted. Apparently, they didn't care and pushed me into the lake. With all of my might and struggle, I tried extremely hard fight them off but of course, it would never work. I was getting pushed off the dock. I felt the cool lake water as I was plunging in. I broke the surface of the water and swam over to the dock. I pulled both of their feet from under them, admiring their tattoos as I did, sending them flying into the water. "Told ya to not push me in," I smirked. We all laughed and swam on a carefree day.

Little did I know that just a week later they would completely break off all forms of communication with me and two weeks later, they would leave me. Alone with no one to stand beside...

End of Flashback

Pulled from my memories, I retreated back to my house. As I stepped on the porch, I faced their dreary faces one more time. I saw the look of pain and guilt. For a minute, for a second, I thought that I could get past their mistakes and run into their arms. I would hug them and all would be well. My practicality took over and I knew that it would take more for me to forgive them. Without looking back, I opened my front door, hesitating, taking a deep breath and rushed inside closing the door behind me.

Curiosity got the best of me and told me to look outside and through the blinds in my dining room I did. The twins had left me again, leaving me all alone to my empty house and thoughts.
