It's Been So Long: A Grayson Dolan Fanfic

I'm Trying to Hold On...

A/N: In this story they are YouTubers and have come back to NJ after leaving for reasons that will be revealed ;)

It was hard enough trying to move on from the greatest things that have ever happened to me and now they are back? Just like that? Does the universe hate me? Let me know universe! 

I'm sitting at my desk pondering my fate and existence when my computer blinks and gives me a notification from YouTube:

New from Dolan Twins: We have really big news....

I knew exactly what the notification was for. Obviously, the boys had decided to tell their 4.1 million subscribers that they were moving back to New Jersey but had decided to leave me out of it. Of course, they pulled the dickiest move they possibly could out of the books. I mean, they made an entire video to their fans telling them about the move but not their best friend for basically their entire lives. How rude! I was angry before but now I was pissed. Immediately I had gotten a text from my other BFF, Arizona. 

Arizona: Hey heard the news! Saw their vid! I feel sooo bad! Want me to come over? Movie night 😊

She always knew exactly what I needed to cheer me up! She was my rock when the twins had left and she never left my side and built me up again when I was knocked down. Arizona helped me get over the twins and become who I am now. I will always be grateful to her for that.

 My fingers flew over the screen as I texted a quick reply. I set my phone down on my marble topped desk and click the notification that had been taking up my computer screen. 

Immediately, I see the twins' faces pop up as the video starts playing. I notice that they were wearing the same shirts as they had when they visited me just over an hour ago. 

"What's up guys? We're back and this week we have some exciting news!" both the twins shouted. 

Gray continued speaking, "Yeah uh, you guys might notice a little change in scenery because..."

"We moved back to NJ!" Ethan finished his statement. He continued, "We love LA! We really do but we missed home, and when I say we missed home, I mean we missed home, and badly."

"It's another reason why we had anxiety attacks," Gray said, "We were homesick not just for our home but for the people who cared for us: our family. We decided to come home and surprise everyone. Get ready for some cool vids here in our hometown and much more. We promised you guys that everything on this channel was  gonna be 100% real and we wanted to stick to our word and let you guys know what was going on in our lives."

"We are so glad we are back. We are also really sorry that this vid is so short but we really need to unpack our stuff and knowing Gray, he won't do anything!" Ethan screamed. 

Offended Gray rolled his eyes and commented, "You mean you won't do anything. I'll have to finish unpacking otherwise we won't be unpacked to film and upload a new vid before..."

Both screamed, "NEXT TUESDAY!"

The end card and music started playing one and a half minute video was over.

I shut the video down and looked at my phone. My lock screen was obviously me and the twins. In the picture I was wearing ripped denim shorts and a cropped tube top. I was also wearing army boots and a thick belt. Grayson was wearing a white shirt with thin yellow stripes and only he could make it look good. Ethan was wearing a pink cutoff t-shirt that was super baggy. In the picture, I have my arms around Gray and Eth's shoulders. Ethan also put his arms around my shoulders but Grayson draped his arms around my hips, clearly pulling me closer to him. We were laughing at a bad joke I had made and Ethan was laughing while looking at the camera. I was also laughing and looking into space but Grayson had been laughing as well, while looking at me. It reminded me of what almost was and what could have happened if they did not leave. It was a nice memory that I held onto dearly. I did not hate them that much but certainly enough to be weary and cautious of them. 

I was once again pulled from my memory when I heard a ping! hit my window. I heard another ping! and another one. I made my way to my window and unlocked it. I looked around and shouted, "Hey! If you break it, you pay for it!" 

"No problemo ma'am!" a familiar voice shouted back in a southern accent. He bent his head slightly forward and tipped his invisible hat. He looked back up at me with his chocolate brown eyes and goofy grin that I used to not be able to resist. His chin was more chiseled than I last remembered and now he grew out his hair a bit and parted it to the side with part of his hair covering parts of his face. He clearly added honey gold, blonde highlights to his hair, giving it more edge and sexiness. He still had his chin mole and his eyes still crinkled when he smiled. He also had a more prominent dimple when he smiled now. He wore a button down green flannel that he clearly forgot to button up, showing his toned abs and chest. Each ab was clearly defined and his arms were sculpted perfectly. He wore jeans that were faded and ripped at the knee caps. It was easy to lose a train of thought when looking at him. 

I quickly shared off the feeling of admiration when I saw him bending down to pick up another stone. 

"Grayson Bailey Dolan, don't even think about it."

"And why's that? All I'm trying to do is get your attention Ms. Melrose Nelson," he smirked sexily and his big, beautiful brown eyes looked straight into my soul. 

Even though I didn't want to see him or his brother, I had no choice if I wanted to save my glass window and not have my parents kill me. 

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but come in Grayson. And I know Eth is hiding out somewhere so tell him to get his ass in here too."

A/N: Ahhh, Mel finally has her first interaction with Gray since he moved back (the one in the first chapter was more of a once sided, heated argument). What do you guys think? Are you loving or hating the story right now? I know it is dragging on but trust me, Melrose will finally speak to them within the next few chapters or so. I know the chapters are super short but I wanna introduce characters before diving into the drama. Also, follow me (you don't have to) if you want to receive updates on when I'm posting updates to this story.
