Thirteen

"So did you ask her if she asked Minhyuk?" Bin asked, as he and Eunwoo walked towards school.

Eunwoo blinked, remembering what happened the night before.

Bin waved a hand in front of him, "Earth to Lee Dongmin! Are you okay?"

The latter came back to his senses and nodded at his friend, "Yeah and no, she hasn't asked her yet."

"Why are you so out of it all of a sudden? You sure you're okay?"

Eunwoo saw Hyemi walked past them. When she saw him, she quickly looked down and avoided his gaze.

Bin saw what happened, "Did you guys had an argument or something? Well, apart from us not being friends with -"

"It's nothing, just let it go," Eunwoo replied, walking ahead of him. Not wanting to remember what he did last night.

"We're having lunch with the Parks tomorrow," Hyemi's mom said through the phone. "Please come home on time and tell your brother to dress appropriately. I don't want him wearing any jumpers and clear your schedule, even though you don't have one."

Hyemi sighed as she turned off the call, "This is getting insane,"

"You tell me," Eunji said in between bites. "How can I confess if my prince is going to be wed to someone else?"

"You mean you haven't told him yet?" Hyemi pointed at the heart necklace around her best friend's neck, "Then what's that?"

Eunji grinned, "He gave this to me as a reminder,"

"A reminder of what?"

"Our time together at camp,"

"You mean a reminder where mosquitoes chased you around and all you did was burn marshmallows around the campfire?"

Eunji hit her arm, "Nonsense! It was one of the best moments in my life,"

The boy in question suddenly showed up, he sat beside Eunji. "How are you guys doing?"

"We're eating lunch out tomorrow," Hyemi answered, twirling the spaghetti with her fork. "It's my dad's last day in town,"

"So I've heard," Jinjin sighed looking at Minhyuk who just walked in. "Uh-oh, your boyfriend at 6 o'clock,"

Hyemi rolled her eyes, "He's not my boyfriend,"

"We've been told numerous lies like that, no worries," Eunji grinned as Minhyuk sat down beside Hyemi.

"I have something to tell you,"

Hyemi perched up, "What is it?"

Minhyuk looked around before saying anything, "You should forgive Bin and Eunwoo,"

"Where is this coming from all of a sudden?"

"They're my friends, and I want all my friends to get along with my future girlfriend,"

"Minhyuk," Hyemi said, in a serious tone. "Before you came here, we really didn't get along. So if you're planning -"

Minhyuk's phone started ringing, interrupting Hyemi, "I gotta go but I'll see you later."

He quickly rushed out of the cafeteria leaving a confused Hyemi, Eunji and Jinjin.

Hyemi decided to spend her remaining hours at school in the library. She walked towards the YA section and took out a book.

The Beginning of Everything, the title says.

She was at chapter twelve when the lights suddenly went out, then she heard a door closing.

"Hello?" She called out. She turned on her cellphone and called someone, although she doesn't know who it is since she was busy looking around.

"Hello? Hyemi? Is that you?" The voice asked. It was a boy's.

"I'm at the library, can you come? I think someone's in here," She whispered.

You can feel the panic in the boy's tone, "I'm coming. Just stay there, and hide."

The call ended and Hyemi crawled under the table. It was really dark and the only light that was present was coming from the window where the moon is at its brightest.

"Oh, Hyemiiii," Someone called out. But the voice isn't familiar. "Come out, come out, wherever you are,"

Hyemi's heart was beating faster – ten times faster. The person was already moving the chairs, coming closer to her.

She can feel footsteps, a few meters away. Who is this person?

"Let me tell you a little story," The voice said. Was it a girl? Or a boy? She was too distracted to recognize because of how a nervous wreck she was. "Once upon a time, there was a girl," So she's a girl. "Who had a brother but she wasn't allowed to see him. Oh, her poor heart wanted to see the boy so bad,"

Hyemi gulped, What the heck is this?, she decided to speak, "Why can't she see him?"

"So you speak," The girl replied. "Well, there were some complications – then again, when she was about to see his brother, someone stole," She hit the table next to where Hyemi was hiding with a book, "Him away from her."

"That's a sad story," Hyemi replied, trying not to stutter.

"It is," She can feel the girl smirking. "Wanna hear another one? It's about our dear little Hyemi," The footsteps were coming closer, like she was almost in front of her.

Hyemi closed her eyes not wanting to know who it was. When a hand grabbed her wrist, she screamed and kicked everywhere.

"Ow!" This time it was a boy. "It's me! It's me!"

A hand covered her mouth as she opened her eyes again, "B-bin?"
