Song: You Belong with Me by Taylor Swift

1959
Gordie LaChance

Today was different. It was my birthday today. I was turning thirteen. Teen! I was technically a teenager, and it felt amazing. I felt old, and I liked the feeling.

My mother and father mumbled a 'Happy birthday, Gordon,' to me as I left the house, and it kind of hurt that they barely recognised my birthday.

It was alright though, because she was here at the ice cream shop, and she was wearing this beautiful green dress and her hair was curled. She looked stunning.

I was grinning to myself, when suddenly I was reminded of the old lady that approached me yesterday.

Talk to her.

I was socially awkward, to say the least. My best friend Chris says that everyone feels that way sometimes, but Teddy says I'm just odd.

Carmen Patel

I felt pretty today. I was wearing my best dress and I put my hair in curlers yesterday, so they'd be all curly today. Even if I had nothing to do today, other than my daily milkshake, I still felt compelled to dress up.

Mario handed me my milkshake, and I thanked him as he took the quarter I gave him. I looked around the ice cream shop, and out the window. There was a boy standing in a red striped shirt, and he was staring at me. I smiled at him, and I waved slightly. He was cute, but when he realised I caught him staring at me, his jaw dropped.

Gordie LaChance

Holy cow. She saw me! She knows I exist now. She waved at me! I can't believe this is happening.

I need to talk to her. I can't just leave. Can I?

No, I can't. I need to go in there.

I reluctantly walked inside the shop, and sat a seat away from her.

My mouth ran dry, and all I could muster up was a stupid smile.

"Hi," I said shyly, and she giggled a bit at me.

"Hi there, I'm Carmen, what's your name?"

Carmen. It's so beautiful. Like her. Why did I ever think her name was Nicole?

"I'm Gordie, Gordie LaChance," I said, and cringed slightly at myself.

"Gordie, do you think I'm pretty?" She asked suddenly.

My eyes widened, and I was flustered, "W-What?" I stuttered.

"Do you think I'm pretty? Good looking? Cute?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

I blushed, "Well, yeah," I said awkwardly.

"So that's why you were just staring at me through the window," Carmen giggled a bit.

I couldn't say anything, I was so embarrassed.

"It's alright, I don't mind it. It's quite adorable actually," She said in a matter-of-fact tone.

I smiled at her. Her voice was angelic, and she looked even more beautiful when I was closer to her.

She finished off her milkshake, and she stood up abruptly.

"We're going to the park," She stated, and I froze. Carmen wanted to hang out with me?

"I mean, unless you have to leave," She said sweetly.

I shook my head, and stood up. She was about an inch and a half taller than me, but I didn't mind it. I knew I was going to hit my grow spurt soon, because I was a teenager.

"Bye, Mario!" Carmen waved to him as served a customer.

"Bye, Carmen! Hey, aren't you that kid that came in here the other day?"

I gaped, and Carmen looked at me funny.

"You came here yesterday?" Carmen said, she was probably confused.

"I'll explain later," I said, and she shrugged her shoulders. Carmen grabbed my hand, and pulled me outside of the shop.

I was holding hands with Carmen. The girl of my dreams.
