I'm in love. Very deeply in love.
That's the only thing I can think as I roll over onto my back on the cold hard pavement. My body aches and bruises form, my knuckles ripped apart, mangled and bloody, my clothes dirty and trashed but, all I can think as I stare up at the clear nights sky is that I'm in love. I'm very deeply in love.
With someone that's not mine.

"Have you heard?" Amy Campbell hurried into my tightly packed cubicle and adjusted her creamy oak coloured coach glasses.
"Heard what?" I frowned glancing up at the twenty year old,
"New boss today." Jillian Moore strutted right in with my coffee tray. There laid four cups of some sort of caffeinated drinks with specific rules and regulations.
"This one is for Jackie though?" I frowned lifting up her usual I've memorized like the back of my hand.
"I'm supposed to bring this to her in exactly seven minutes-"
"News flash honey," Anna Carling rolled her big blue eyes and adjusted her tight black skirt.
"Jackie is fired. New boss gets coffee in 'exactly seven minutes'."
"But it's a Triple, Venti, Half Sweet, Non-Fat, Caramel Macchia-" Jill's manicured finger pushed on my lips as my words came to a holt.
"If they don't like it who cares your just a little helper, look at how many they have. You won't be missed." Jill gave a signature sly smirk making me roll my eyes.
"Hey! We are all little helpers!" Amy glared at Jill.
"You better start making your rounds. Boss last. Boss always last." Jill ushered me out of my cubicle.
I held the tray of personalized drinks tightly. The office was not just some small company, this was a world wide corporation tightly jammed into this four level building centred in New York.
"Hello Mr. Brown," I smiled politely to the fat balding man and set his black coffee with one light cream, two sugars on his desk an appropriate distance away from his hand on his mouse. I've learned from experience.
He grunted back a "mornin" without glancing away from his computer and kept working.
Busy man. He looked thoroughly over the income of the business, the profits, the spending and all that to justify that there's no fault in the system.
I kept walking through the little hallways with quick light steps. I had four minutes before I had to be at the bosses desk handing her, Jackie's drink.
"Goodmorning mrs. Lewis."
They stern lady was quick to respond,
"Grande, Iced, Sugar-Free, Vanilla Latte With Soy Milk?"
"Yes I have it all." I smiled and placed the drink on the table. I was patient, knowing interrupting is rude.
"Quicker next time would be much appreciated." Would you like me to just brew it up right here? This old bag would still be squawking 'faster!'
"I'm very sorry I will be sure to hurry next time." I said with my fullest fake compassion. I love this place and I need this job but some of the people here can be so rude.
I grabbed my other five set tray of coffees from my tiny desk and hurried to the photographers level. They were less picky by far. Maybe it's because they are more disposable- as in they can be replaced by Jackie in an instant- Or whoever our new boss is.
I walked through the room setting down the black coffees with a simple smile. My smile turned bigger as I arrived at Jeremy's desk.
"Red looks good on you." He smiled, hinting to my red lips. My thin pointer finger immediately touched my bottom lip. He noticed.
"Thanks." I blushed and my eyes glanced at my watch. Two minutes.
"Shit! um bye Jeremy-" I quickly turned and his hand caught mine.
"Come down here at your break, okay?"
I nodded, heat intensifying in my cheeks.
"Y-yea okay."
And like that I was off. I hurried down the hallway and to the stairs. Just one flight. I was going as fast as I could in my black heels trying to not be late for my new boss. Maybe she'll be even more strict. As I turned the corner still holding jackies old order tightly in my hand I ran right into a strong hard chest, the Triple, Venti, Half Sweet, Non-Fat, Caramel Macchiato spilling into the air and onto the both of us.
I started to fall backwards and scrambled to grab onto anything, I pulled on his collar which I don't think he was prepared for as we both stumbled. His right hand gripped my waist sending tingles down my spine while his left caught the railing. His touch made me go weak in the knees. It was like a surge of energy that tickled my heart.
His emerald green eyes staring down at me. The man was very handsome. Very handsome. He was wearing a dark blue button down shirt that seemed to have very little coffee on it- I must have gotten most of it. He paired his shirt with classic black dress pants every guy here is wearing. He wore an expensive looking silver watch and dark brown leather shoes. This handsome man looked wealthy. Very wealthy.
"Sorry. it was my fault I was hurrying to greet my boss with coffee. I should have been more cautious."
"I'll be sure to get out of your way next time." He gave a boyish smirk. I frowned a little and hurried up the stairs, with more cation. That wasn't the apology I was really looking for.
I turned the corner and made my way to the bosses office. Top floor, an amazing view of New York. It had always been my dream to run an advertisement business like this and have a large office overlooking all the success and things I've accomplished in my life. I knocked on the door and no answer. The new boss is late. I waited a few minutes outside the large office. I have other people's work to do! I'm what you call an intern- at least for now. It's a six month program where I basically work my ass off for free and I try to prove I'm worthy and able to work in their environment.
It's already been one month with Jackie. As I waited for my boss I couldn't stop thinking about the man I ran into in the stairwell. His green eyes were stained in my memory.
Though those green eyes where not out of a memory anymore.
He walked down the path through the cubicles with a small smile plastered on his chiseled face. He seemed bored.
He walked to the office door I was waiting at and glanced at me and did I double take as he unlocked the office.
"Your the woman that ran into me in the stairwell." He chuckled as embarrassment stained my cheeks. I think it was the both of us buddy. I rolled my eyes and brushed his comment aside.
"Yes. And what are you doing in my bosses office? She hasn't arrived yet, do you know why?"
"Maybe because she isn't your boss." He walked to the desk and placed his laptop down on it.
"Oh my gosh, your my new boss aren't you." Idiot. You are too stupid.
He didn't look impressed.
Though he did look hot.
Stop it Amanda, your blowing this.
"I'm Amanda Grant I'm one of yo-"
"Look I'm very busy, could you come back later today, if it's important." He pulled his hand through his hair and sighed.
"I'm your intern so just tell me what I've got to do,"
He sat down in his chair.
"Could you just find someone else to bother?" He rubbed his temple and refrained from making eye contact with me. I frowned, who the hell is this hot shot?
"okay."___________________________
