Chapter 3 - Locked Away

Hey guys here's an update.

Saber started to growl quietly and I began to shake with anxiety and fear. "Birch, Tailor, Adder, nice surprise. Tell me, what are Viper clan members doing inside my territory?" Demetria asked. The leader, who I suspected to be the one in front, responded "Demetria, what are you doing harboring a human? Drain her and get on with it. We don't all need to be hunted!" Demetria growled and I heard everyone surrounding me growl as well. I noticed the people who had been watching me from their porches were going inside. Locking their doors. I gulped as Demetria took steps forward. She walked up to the head of the three vampires confronting her and snarled. "Adder, take your pathetic clan members and leave, or I'll make you." She placed a hand on his chest and with a flick of her wrist shoved Adder a good five feet backwards. His clan mates sped to his side in an instant. He snarled, "If she is deceiving you, you know every other leader will come after her and you. She's a threat. You know the risks of keeping her. You should just kill her or turn her!" Demetria stood her ground and composed herself. I noticed the others doing the same. She replied "I haven't decided what to do with her, but for now she's a feeder human. That I have decided." Adder, Birch and Tailor began to turn to walk away, but Adder smirked and I saw a blur before Thor was shoved aside. Next thing I knew, pain shot through my neck as fangs pierced my flesh. I could feel him sucking the blood from me. Moments later, extreme pain spread over me as he was ripped away. I was on the ground petrified. Saber moved to stand over me barking fiercely. Seconds later Demetria, Moore, and Thor dragged the Viper clan leader to his clan mates and threw him down. I could see a fight starting to break out. I felt people helping me to my feet. Gage and Rosetta held me up by my arms. I had no strength to stand on my own, I felt drained. Everything blurred as they moved at lightning speed. A minute later, we were in front of a house painted black. It looked slightly larger than the others in its group. They pulled me inside and laid me down on what I think was a blanket. Saber licked my cheek and laid down next to me whimpering. Rosetta left the second I was set down; Gage stood next to me eyes blazing fangs descended. A fight must've broken out. I imagined the terrifyingly violent way they would fight each other. I still felt blood dripping from the bite wounds on my neck. I felt myself falling into darkness. Blackness took over my vision as I fell unconscious.

I woke up with a warm rag placed on my forehead. I felt a hand on my neck and I opened my eyes to see Demetria. She looked battered her clothes were torn in various places. There was a long cut on her forehead. I noticed her clothes were covered in bloody stains as well. "I apologize for what happened to you. I should have had more people to transport you, but you will be fine, eventually." I put a hand on my neck and felt some kind of bandage. She moved my hand away stating, "You are going to be weak for awhile, meaning I or whoever is guarding you will need to watch you closer. There was a good amount damage done to your neck when we ripped him away. I apologize for that, but you'll heal. The bleeding has stopped. Your dog is in the other room. I couldn't listen to it whine anymore." I moved to sit up, but she put a finger on my chest, pushing me back down. I opened my mouth to question her but she said "You will rest here. I'll let your dog in. Try not to move your head." She got up and walked away. It was weird that she was acting so caring. I continued to let my thoughts wonder. Why, according to the vampire who attacked, it would be better if I was killed or became one of them? Why does she even care about my health? I saw her walking in, holding Saber's leash which she dropped as soon as the door was closed. Saber wagged his tail and jumped on me. Demetria growled and Saber laid down still happy to be with me. Demetria walked over to an old looking dresser and pulled out a black long sleeve shirt and a clean leather jacket. She walked out of the room without saying anything. I thought for a second before I sitting up, I scanned the room, I must be in Demetria's room. Why would she bring me here? This is her space, her private territory. Wouldn't I be invading her space? Demetria came back dressed in the clean un-torn clothes she had grabbed from the dresser. She walked over to me and to my surprise, Saber moved to my other side so she could sit on the blanket next to me. She nodded at him and he barked as a reply. I thought for a second confused; I thought she disliked my dog, now she's showing him a gesture of respect. What did I miss? "How are you feeling? Earlier I neglected to mention I cleaned all the open wounds you received from the beatings my group gave you during questioning." I took a deep breath to see if she would stop me from speaking again. When she didn't I responded "I'm in pain, but I'll manage. I appreciate your kindness. You didn't have to stop him or protect me." I was startled by the rough and hoarse sound of my voice. She huffed angrily and her eyes flashed red for a second before she replied "If I had let him kill you, I would look weak. All the others leaders would come after me. My territory would be taken and invaded. I would look pathetic. I don't like my things damaged. As you are a part of my territory now, the fact that as result of today's scrimmage, your condition is worse off is severely aggravating." Her eyes were a vibrant shade of red and I was terrified by the amount of anger emanating from her.

She composed herself and standing up she said "I'm leaving, Moore will be in here to protect you, Nathaniel as well I'm not taking chances today." With that she walked out the door slamming it closed behind her, I didn't realize I was shaking with fear until she had left. I took several deep calming breaths. Moore and Nathaniel walked into the room they both looked battered like Demetria. They too had changed into clean clothes but the bruises, cuts, and blood smear were clear evidence of a recent fight. Moore smirked at me stating "So how is the human feeling?" He went to walk towards me but Nathaniel grabbed his arm. Moore turned to him and growled, Daniel replied "Leader Demetria said not to touch her, or allow anyone to touch her, no one is to antagonize her or move her." Moore ripped his arm from Nathaniel's grip growling he replied "Fine, I'll let the poor pathetic human be." I rolled my eyes replying "I'm not pathetic," Saber stood up barking fiercely. Suddenly the door swung open and an unconscious female Vampire was dragged in. I gasped realizing that it was Demetria. Moore let out a deep unnerving growl. He spat "Who!" I gulped in fear as she was laid next to me, I sat up and moved out of the way, fear fueling my actions. One of the vampires who dragged her in said "She and Adder were attacked by the Slayers at the border of our territory, where it meets Viper clans on the far side. If we hadn't been on our way back from the Great Redwood, they both might of been slayed." Moore nodded, Nathaniel and several of the others were already tending to Demetria, I was shoved out of the room by Moore his eyes are a terrifyingly bright shade of red. Saber followed barring his teeth as a warning. Moore snarled "You! You led them here to kill our clan and group leaders didn't you, she trusted you, let you into her private den, and allowed you to stay there, as you plot to kill her and all the other leaders!" He shoved me again sending me flying backwards, I slammed against a wall and fell to the floor winded. Saber was at my side in an instant, standing over me protectively. I glanced towards Moore as I caught my breath. Nathaniel is holding Moore back from me. Moore's pupils dilated to the point his Irises were barely there, fangs fully descended, a deeply terrifying growl continuously coming from him, he looks enraged. Nathaniel said "Moore stop, let the human be, Leader Demetria knew something like this would happen. The Slayers have been inactive for awhile and as we own the largest territory next to Blood Clan it makes sense, that they chose to attack tonight with all the chaos this human has caused." A female voice spoke from the doorway to room where Demetria was she said "Leader Demetria is coming to."
