Hey guys, I know that last chapter was a smidge intense and this one won't be much calmer, but things are getting interesting.
I mumbled "Y-you're ble-bleeding." As Moore and Nathaniel laid me down in the field of deeply red colored ferns. Demetria kneeled down next to me, the others spread out in a wide circle around us and I noticed their eyes glowing red as they took defensive stances. Demetria completely ignored me as she glared at my dog and said "You said she was emotionally strong enough. You said she could keep control." Saber sat next to me and growled in reply. Demetria let out an annoyed huff before she placed one hand on my shoulder and the other over my heart. She looked into my eyes and stated "You must calm down, you have no idea the power you possess, I can only absorb so much of the fear and anger inside of you. The rest has to be done yourself, you must relax. Focus on me and nothing else. I am fine, my wounds will heal. Fang is gone, and you wouldn't be able to kill him if you tried." Demetria leaned heavily on the arm with the hand that she was gripping my shoulder with, as her eyelids fluttered and she gritted her teeth. Saber rushed over to her and placed himself underneath her, supporting her. She repeated "I'm fine." She then stared into my eyes and I could feel the growing anger and fear start to recede as Demetria's pupils dilated and her fangs descended. When she pulled away she collapsed onto the ground next to me. Saber looked at me and then laid down resting his head and paws on Demetria's stomach. Demetria looked at me and stated "Nathaniel." He was at her side in an instant, he glanced at me and said "She will calm down soon Leader, but you need to feed." Something inside knew what would happen if she didn't get blood soon, and I wasn't about to let that happen. Saber and Demetria looked at me as I forced myself to sit up, Nathaniel followed their gaze. Demetria commanded "Lean down." As her eyes closed and her breath started coming in shorter intervals, I did as she said finding a new found source of energy. Nathaniel moved next to me, he gripped my shoulders lightly supporting me. The second my skin touch Demetria's fangs she bit into me, and it was evident she was trying her best not to drink my blood too quickly. A minute or so later she pulled away and I fell back against Nathaniel, weak, the tormenting pain of my injuries starting to return. Demetria sat up and placed a hand on my neck healing the fang wound she had given me. Nathaniel stated "Leader Demetria, you should go hunting, then give her the talk that we've know was coming. I will take her back to your private den to rest." I watched Demetria stand up then lean down to pick me up, she stated "No, I will take her, I have blood stored in my den, it will tie me over until I can hunt, and I think it would be best that I talk to her sooner rather than later as the blood moon nears ever closer with each sunrise. You know what will happen at blood moon if she can not maintain control. If what almost happened today is any indication of what would've happened had Thor not been moved by Moore, or had I not been present. She is losing control if anything, and that is not good for anyone in Fangwoods."
Demetria scooped me up, I had let out a sharp pained breath in reaction. She glanced at Moore and he nodded, Nathaniel stated "Cinder and I will stay with the both of you for the remainder of today, as precaution." Gage added "Thor and I will hunt." Demetria commanded "I am heading to my den. You know my rules, and until I have finished explaining this incident to Sierra, no one is to enter my private den but Nathaniel and Cinder." I can't believe she used my name, no one ever uses my name to address me, normally they just call me human or you? That must mean that this is extremely important, or she wouldn't of said my name. Or could it be she's starting to care about me, besides that I'm "not damaged" and protected. She moved in a blur, seconds later I was laid down on something soft, I'm assuming her bed. Demetria laid a blanket over me. I opened my eyes after a minute or so, noticing that she now had cloth bandages over the worst of the wounds she received during the duel. I questioned, my voice shaky with pain and weakness, "What's happening to me?" She gave me a sympathetic look and replied "You must remain calm, and rest, I will tell you what you need to know about the prophecy foretold by the Elders when I return. Cinder will protect you while I'm gone." She held my left hand for mere seconds before she shook her head and pulled away leaving the room in a blur. Cinder walked in and said "Leader Demetria will be back soon, you should sleep in the time she's gone, it'll help you recover faster." I closed my eyes and gave into the waves of immense exhaustion that had flowed over me as soon as I laid down. I was woken up by Demetria's voice commanding "Wake up, it's time we talked." She seemed back to what I called her normal self. I felt like something had shifted inside of me and I didn't understand what happened during the 'Blood duel,' as Demetria called it. What did Demetria absorbing my fear and anger have to do with anything? I understand that I calmed down, and I sensed it was important I did, but why? Demetria walked over to the bedside, Saber at her side, he jumped up onto the bed, I winced as the action had caused me to shift. Saber laid down on my side opposite to Demetria when she sat down on the bedside.
Demetria took a deep breath and looked at Saber concerned before she turned to me and said "It will be difficult to accept and comprehend what I am about to tell you, so I will put this into perspective by giving you a little bit of background on the foundation of Fangwoods. The 'True Blood': Leatha, being the first vampire to be confined to Fangwoods, she was the original creator. To put it as simple as possible; she was the first of our kind to be trapped in this prison of a forest. The destined mate of the 'True Blood': Ravinger, escaped Fangwoods and went into hiding. Ravinger broke the bond between he and Leatha, unwanting the tie mental and physical tie between he and her. He later mated with a human. That human being a member of your lineage." She paused and my jaw dropped, I was stunned into silence unable to speak, eventually stuttering "H-how ca-can that b-be pos-possible?" Demetria ignored my question and continued stating "For the longest time I believed it was Nathaniel but I know now that you are the partial human stated of in the 'Charred Blood' prophecy. The elders confirmed my suspicion that you were more than a normal human the sunrise I had Nathaniel bring you to the Great Redwood. The prophecy states that at the time of 'Blood Moon' you will be the ultimate savior, and by filling the prophecy you will save Char, an more specifically myself, plus all the other clans and groups in Fangwoods. Which is why it so very important that you are able to maintain control of your emotions and your gifts. You have yet to realize you have, or tune into the very unique powerful gifts, appointed to you by fate. Several of which most of our kind believe are only myth." I gazed at her confused replying "W-what does t-the prophecy state specifically?" Demetria abruptly turned to Saber and growled "No! She's not ready, that's final, I will tell her only when she's stronger. She is gravely wounded and losing control. Telling her the full extent of the 'Charred Blood' prophecy will only result in her raging, injuring herself further, and the partial destruction of my territory. That is not something I will allow!" Saber flashed his teeth, Demetria glared at him and snarled "Drop the subject, I refuse to tell her until she recovers to some extent, I know that 'Blood Moon' nears and I haven't forgotten the effects it has on us." Saber laid down ears back whining softly, Demetria growled quietly silencing him before she turned to me and said "Nathaniel is the only other partial human vampire in Fangwoods, you an he are both affected differently by the 'Blood Moon' than a full blood vampire. All you need to know as of now is that during 'Blood moon' every vampire loses almost complete control going into a raged frenzy. We have to lock ourselves in a cell, located in the basement of every den before the start of 'Blood Moon,' so that we do not ultimately destroy each other or all of Fangwoods." I laid there trying my hardest to absorb all of the information she had given me. I'm starting to understand why I feel like something has shifted inside of me. Demetria said that I seem to be losing control, and I have a feeling the part of me that is vampire, is beginning to become more evident with each passing day. I wonder if the vampire part of me is taking over? I'm still not quite sure I completely understand how I relate to everything, I wish this could all be simpler. Demetria held my hand and stated "I will teach you to control your rage, and master your powerful, unique gifts, but first you must recover. Everything depends on your recovery."
