here is an update my amazingly supportive readers :)
Nathaniel and Moore froze, breaking apart. Moore went into the room and, in a blur, Nathanielwas next to me helping me to my feet. He guided me into Demetria's room while the people who dragged her in left. I was starting to feel how weak I was, the fear and adrenaline subsiding. Demetria was lying on the bed, twitching every now and then. Nathaniel vanished for a minute, then reappeared holding a blanket, vial, and syringe. He laid the blanket down and helped me over to it. I laid down, grateful. Nathaniel walked over to Demetria and stuck the syringe in her arm, injecting her with its contents. Her eyes flickered open and she let out the eeriest sound that seemed like a cross between a deep growl and a very deep snarl. She turned to Moore her eyes blazing a vibrant red. I could see her fangs were slightly descended when she bared her teeth at him. She sat up and grabbed his neck, raising him off the ground she spat, "I told you not allow anyone to touch her, move her, or antagonize her. You disobeyed me, Moore, I am extremely disappointed in you." She threw him to the ground forcefully and I could her the floor crack a little as he slammed into it. Demetria stood up shakily. "You will stand outside the front door of my den, guarding from a distance, until I can think of a suitable punishment for you." Moore stood up and replied "Yes, Leader Demetria. My greatest apologies. I have let the Char group down by disobeying you. I will not move from outside your den's door until you tell me to Leader." He bowed his head and she replied "Do not disobey me again, Moore, or I will have no choice but to banish you. You know the rules I have set in place. Now follow them." He walked out of the room glancing at me angrily. Nathanielrushed over to Demetria as she started to collapse. "You need to rest, Leader Demetria, the Eldershade is still in your system." She gripped the bedside tightly supporting herself. "How is the human?" She asked. Nathaniel cast glance towards me before he stated "She is battered but it's nothing compared to the weakness she still feels from being partially drained." Demetria nodded as she laid down, Nathaniel handed her the vial he had brought in earlier and she downed. "I will be fine by tomorrow. The human is what I'm concerned about. If she dies as result of Adders attack, I will look weak and the Char group will be at great risk. Especially with Moore's disobedience." Nathaniel nodded and stood in the middle of the room, shifting his gaze between the room's door and the small window.
I awoke to the feel of Sabers soft tongue licking my cheek. I opened my eyes and noticed I was now laying on Demetria's bed, above her covers with another blanket on top of me. I sat up as she walked into the room. "You will allowed to rest in my private den for one more day, then I will move you into one of the cells in the basement," She stated. I gulped, afraid of being locked up like before. Flashbacks of the way the treated me started to play in my head. She grabbed my chin and snarled "Are you even listening to me?" I stuttered the reply "N-n-no I'm s-sorry." She growled then composed herself, stating "As of now you will be locked up for the remainder of your life, unless I decide to drain or turn you." A shiver ran down my spine at the coldness of her voice. She placed a hand on my chest forcing me to lie down. "I will bring you some of what food I've managed to acquire. I can not have you starving to death." She walked out of the room and I glanced at Saber. I brought my hand up to scratch his ears, trying to calm myself, Demetria terrified me. She came back into the room I sat up and handed me a bowl of what I'm guessing to be soup, or at least I hoped it was. I started eating ignoring the odd flavor. Demetria watched me eat the entire bowl. When I finished eating she took the bowl and left the room but didn't return. I laid on the bed petting Saber. He brought me a random sock he had found. I smiled and said "You want to play fetch buddy?" He barked and I balled up the sock throwing it for him. He brought it back to me, and I tossed it again. Saber and I continued to play fetch for awhile. Light was no longer coming through the small window of Demetria's private den when she walked into the room again. Saber jumped up onto the bed dropping the sock at my side, I threw it and he chased after it, picking it up he brought it over to Demetria who was standing in the doorway. She glanced at him and said "What?" Saber dropped the balled up sock at her feet. He nudged it towards her a little then laid down looking up at her, begging her to throw it. She looked at me and said "What's wrong with your dog?" I sighed and said "He wants you to play fetch with him. Throw the sock for him and he will bring it back to you. I don't know why he wants you to play. Take it as him saying he likes you and he trusts you." She looked down at him and just stared. He nudged the ball closer to her feet and she picked it up with a disgusted look on her face. She threw it lightly and it landed on the the floor few feet away.
Saber fetched it and brought it back to her dropping it at her feet again. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. She walked over to me and, looming over me said "I've heard rumor that the Slayers have heard about you and want to take you from me. I can't let you leave Fangwoods with the knowledge you have of this place and our presence. It would put us all in extraneous danger." I nodded and gulped before replying, "So...um what are you going to do about me?" She huffed angrily spitting "I don't know. something inside me is stopping me from killing you, but I do not want to babysit a newly created vampire!" She slammed her fist onto the bed snarling in frustration. I shuddered in fear, utterly terrified. Her eyes turned red and she said "You will be my feeder human, no one else may drink from you, unless I say otherwise." I felt a shiver run down my spine scared. Thinking of the pain I went through when Adder drank from me. She got up and stated "Nathaniel and Tres will guard you. I am leaving." In a blur she left the room, and seconds later, there was a blur of movement then Nathaniel and, who I assumed was Tres, were standing in the middle of the room whispering to each other. "She's special," Nathaniel stated. "Leader Demetria probably only wanted her to heal faster, so she wouldn't have to baby her." Tres responded. Nathaniel rolled his eyes and replied "Leader Demetria never let anyone in her private den before she came along. The human is laying on her bed, with the dog." Tres whispered "That is true, she has been overly frustrated and defensive lately." Nathaniel cast a glance at me replying "What do you think it means? It surely isn't nothing, but that doesn't mean it's something either." Tres nodded responding "I wouldn't think to much of it right now. The human hasn't been here long, maybe Leader Demetria is just extra territorial and frustrated by everyone telling her to drain or turn the poor human." Nathaniel replied "You have a point, Tres. Let's keep this conversation to ourselves, alright? We don't want to end up like Moore." "Agreed, I would hate to be confined without blood and tortured like he is," Tres whispered. "Leader Demetria had to make an example, so she wouldn't seem weak with everything that happened. I just hope that Leader Demetria makes up her mind about the human soon, or the other groups and clans will start to attack us. The last time every vampire group and clan in Fangwoods fought, it didn't end well for anyone. Especially not anyone who survived, that is."
I was struck with fear after hearing those words. I didn't want an entire civilization of Vampires to go to war over just the fact that I'm a human being. I started to feel tears roll down my cheeks and Saber rested his head on my chest comfortingly. I wished I never strayed off the trail. I wished I could go home. But I couldn't. I was stuck here for the rest of my life. And who knows how long or short that could be?
