Hey guys here's an update for you, I hope you like it, I'm hoping this book is going to get really interesting real soon. I'm trying to start updating every Saturday, I'm sorry for being so inconsistent. Chapter dedicated to my new friend devilcorn, thank you so much for being so supportive ☺♥.
I woke up to the feel of someone roughly grabbing the collar of my shirt, I was pulled to my feet and dragged, everything was a blur as the vampire moved me. A few seconds later I was thrown to the ground and I heard the sound of a metal door being slammed shut. I turned towards the door and stood up. I noticed Saber was laying in a corner of the cell whimpering his head tucked under his paw. I walked over to the door's small window, hearing the sounds of a brutal fight. What I saw was terrifying: Demetria, Nathaniel, Thor, and several other vampires fighting a group of what I believed were five humans. The vampire's eyes were blazing red, fangs fully descended. They seemed to struggle to evade the flow of arrows that two of the humans were shooting. Demetria put up a hand in what I'm guessing was a signal, then everything played out in a blur. Just as soon as they had started moving, in a blur they stopped, and vampires were holding up the humans by their necks, weapons laying on the floor. Demetria walked over to who I thought was in command of the invading humans. "Get out of my den, or every single one of the people you brought here will be drained in front of you one by one slowly and painfully," she spat. The man gripped his swords tighter and replied, "Oh Demetria, you didn't think this pathetic attack was my plan, did you?" Her pupils dilated to the point I couldn't even see her irises. She growled before exclaiming "You don't think, I'm that blind do you?!? I know what you planned and Eldershade will not work on me while I still have the antidote in my veins. You already know I will not allow you to slay my group-mates!" The man laughed before he threw something into the air. Demetria growled, leaping at the man as the object exploded. The room filled with some sort of bluish-green smoke. I heard the sound of coughing and the thumps of bodies hitting the ground. I backed away from the door and over to Saber. He stood up and moved in front of me, silently snarling. I noticed my dog was shaking in fear despite his action of bravery. I backed against the wall as the cell door swung open and the man with the swords walked in. "Don't be afraid. I am here to get you out of this dreadful place. I am here to free you from the Vampires capture," He stated. He put one sword back into a sheath attached to his back, then he extended a hand to me. I walked around Saber and was about to grab his hand when my dog head butted my leg. Saber barked at me before growling at the stranger offering me their hand. I pulled my hand back and opened my mouth to say something. When suddenly Demetria burst from the cloud of smoke that was now creeping through the open doorway of the cell. She tackled the man to the ground as he pressed one of his swords to her neck. She snarled at his action, clearly aggravated. Demetria grabbed the blade of his sword. My eyes went wide when she didn't react to it cutting into the flesh of her hand as she ripped the sword from his grasp.
She tossed the blade against the cell wall, lunging forward she bit down on the man's neck. I knew that she was draining him as blood flowed freely. A few arrows flying from the smoke stuck into her backside, causing her to pull away. Blood dripping from her face, she leapt back through the doorway into the gaseous substance. I collapsed to the floor, shaking in fear, Saber moved to stand in front of me protectively. Demetria entered the cell again minutes later back holding a pale lifeless body. She dropped it next to the man with the swords, who was now struggling to his feet. She growled "Unless you want yourself and everyone of your people to be drained, Dakar, I suggest you order them to retreat." He huffed covering the fang wounds on his still bleeding neck with a hand. He yelled "Retreat, Slayers!!!" In a rough airy voice, he picked up his other sword before bolting out of the cell. Demetria walked over to me, I noticed the arrows were still sticking into her back. Blood still dripping from her chin, her fangs retracted and her eyes returned to normal. I gulped in fear utterly horrified at what I had just witnessed. She killed without thought. Without even the slightest bit of mercy. I began to let my thoughts wander. When it came to me she showed caring, kindness. She's fought now three battles over me. Why, what makes me different then the man she who's lying dead on the floor mere feet away? I stuttered "P-please, d-don-don't c-come cl-closer." She stood still and whipped the blood from her chin replying "Yes, I know I'm a monster, a cold blooded killer. What you witnessed was only a small glimpse at how we fight. It's normally much much worse than that. I want to know if you got injured by the scrimmage between my group and the Slayers." I pulled my knees to my chest tightly, I shook my head "no" in reply as words failed me. Saber sat next to me, he looked at Demetria and barked once. She glanced at him rolling her eyes and mumbling something to quiet for me to hear in reaction. As she sat down on the cement floor across from me. She stated "I will not hurt you, at least not at the moment. You should know by now that there is a target on your head. Other groups and clans want me to turn or drain you, the Slayers want to free you,-" "What do you want?" I interrupted. She let out a snarl, slamming her fist into the cement floor cracking it. I gulped and tried to scoot further against the wall. She snarled, "I want to know what makes you so unique. I want to know what keeps me from sinking my fangs into your neck and draining every last drop of blood from you. You are not like other people that have come to Fangwoods. You are different, special maybe. I don't know..."
Demetria stood up and turned around placing a hand on her head, my jaw dropped as I saw that blood was dripping from around the arrows that were still sticking out of her back. I stood up slowly, and walked over to her. She didn't seem to notice or care, her eyes still closed, her hand still resting on her head. I reached out and gripped the shaft of one of the arrows lightly before I gently pulled it out. I dropped it to the ground as she whipped around, her eyes a slight shade of red. I gulped, backing against the cell wall, terrified of her. Saber barked, and stood up on his hind legs, resting his front paws on Demetria's stomach. He barked one more time and she relaxed, composing herself. She said "I apologize for losing control. If you don't answer I'll force one out of you. What were you trying to do, with that?" She pointed to the arrow I had dropped. I could feel myself trembling as I said "Um...y-you're bleeding, and...I uh...I, w-was just trying to h-help." She glanced between me and my dog, who's was still resting his front paws on her stomach, before she said "I didn't ask for help, I do not need a human's help. Vampires don't feel pain the same way you pathetic humans do." She backed up and my dog walked over to me and sat down at my side ears back as if she had hurt his feelings. I was so confused. It was like her and my dog had a whole other level of communication. It was weird. I realized she was walking towards the doorway, and words shot from my mouth before I could stop them. "Please don't leave me here," I blurted. She froze and turned to me with an icy blank expression she stated coldly "I have a group to lead and wounded group-mates to look after. I do not have time to babysit you, human." She left the cell, slamming the door closed so hard it rattled. The arrow and the dead man were still laying on the floor. I rested my head on my knees and Saber laid in front of me starring at the door ears perked. So many unanswered questions floated in my head. There were so many things I wanted to say. What's with her and my dog? Why can't she just kill me? What makes me different? Why did she leave the dead man in here? Why did she seem stunned when I pulled the arrow from her back? Why is she so kind? What will happen when the other groups and clans find out she's not going to drain me? Why is there such a large target on my head? What makes me so different?
