The training room was beautiful. Normal people will call nature beautiful. They'll say that the sight of green fields pleased their eyes, that the sound of the blowing wind and chirping birds was music to their ears and that the smell of wet earth was the most aromatic. But as proven by previously stated facts, I am not normal.
The sight of weapons and gym equipment, sound of the occasional grunt and shouts of motivation from coaches, and the smell of sweat and determination was beauty in my eyes. Sure, the countryside was beautiful, but this training room was something else.
A single word escaped my lips as I took in the training room. 'Wow!'
It was divided into cubicles, each with its specific art to teach. Some were doing gymnastics, some were fencing, some were shooting arrows and some were shooting bullets. People of different gait, size, skin tone, facial expression, etc. were present in the massive training room.
'Welcome to the training room, princess.' Said the voice of someone who I forgot was standing next to me.
'Uh, yeah.' I muttered still staring open-mouthed at the training room.
'Well? What are you waiting for?' Ty said. He grabbed my wrist and raising my hand up announced, 'The princess has returned!'
This was followed by a series of shouts and applause. I could hear the voices of people saying, "she is back!' 'Oh! She's gorgeous.' 'A spitting image of her mother!' Some came forward to escort me to the first cubicle. Despite the fact that I had no clue as to what was going on, I adored the attention.
The shouting and loud conversations had come to a full stop. The first cubicle looked like a classroom, but way more different. There weren't any desks or books or any sort of stationary, in fact the only thing that made it look like a classroom was the imposing black board on which, things unintelligible to me were written. The only thing I understood from everything written on the board was 'Immunity spells'.
Everyone in the 'classroom' had their focus on a point in the distance and were concentrating hard, so hard that some of their faces had turned red. A few were saying some words after which black marks that spoke of utmost beauty and grace appeared on their skin. Of course, I didn't comprehend a thing going on around me, but I knew that this was magic, which my father said only special people have inside them. And by special he obviously meant, few. Then how, were 30 people managing to perform this art? I remembered Tyler freezing time. He had said something about magic, that it rushes through the body and blah, blah, blah. After all that happened to me, I forgot almost everything. Wait a minute, what about Nora? Ty said that she was sitting on a toilet eating booger flavored beans. Is she still doing that? Wait, which day is it?
A lady, probably in her mid 30's came up behind me, startling me. I was going to turn around and ask Ty who that lady was, when I realized that he had long left my side. She had porcelain skin, dull grey-brown eyes and a scent of fresh paint.
She leaned in towards me and said, 'Leia Renaldi, long hidden princess, 16 year old high schooler, highest magic tolerance ever, most supreme of all magical powers.' Her voice was raspy, it sounded like someone had torn her voice chords out.
'uhh, yeah... that's me! Yay?' I said, confused as ever.
She grabbed my hand and dragged me along with her while saying, 'Come with me, I'll answer your questions.'
I let her guide me. I guess I never learned anything about talking to strangers. But after all, I found out about me, from a stranger called Tyler. Therefore, I didn't see what harm trusting this snake like lady would do.
She guided me out of the first cubicle. I passed cubicle 2, cubicle 3, 4, 5, 6......15, the last cubicle. There was a wall right in front of us. She tightened her grip on my hand and walked ahead toward the wall. I tried wrenching my hand out, but she didn't flinch. That lady was crazy, she was going to walk into that wall. She quickened her pace. The wall kept coming closer until it was an inch away from her face. I closed my eyes to keep myself from screaming. I knew that the wall was going to smack me right in the face in 3, 2, 1 – nothing. 3, 2, 1- still nothing. I opened one eye to find out what was going on. The lights were off and there was a flight of creaky steps covered with lint in front of us. I opened my eyes fully. There was a wall behind us and a slightly glowing line on it that marked our silhouettes. I turned to look at snake lady slowly. She was looking straight at the staircase when she said, 'Yes we passed through the wall. But now we're here to answer all your queries about our world. I'll answer every question for one simple favor; tell me what happened to my sister, Amanda Prior.'
'That old lady who ran our school was your sister?! Never mind that actually. How am I supposed to trust you? I don't even know your name or what you are!'
'Dominique is the name. Do you want to know what species I am more than you want to have all your questions answered? No, right? I thought so. Now we're wasting time, let's go.'
I knew I shouldn't trust this lady but I had way too many questions and they had to be answered. Well, I guess I was about to find out if the cat actually dies due to curiosity. So I took a deep breath and let her drag me along, again. Never know which wall I was going to pass through with her.
