In July 1975, Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) was officially inaugurated by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, making RTB the nation's first colour television broadcaster.
RTB currently operates three channels, namely RTB Perdana, RTB Aneka and RTB Sukmaindera. It also operates five national radio networks: Nasional FM (92.3 or 93.8), Pilihan FM (95.9 or 96.9), Nur Islam FM (93.3 or 94.9), Harmoni FM (94.1 or 97.7) and Pelangi FM (91.4 or 91.0). Radio Brunei made its debut in May 1957 with the consent of the late Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien III.
Another television and radio broadcaster in Brunei is DST Communications Sdn Bhd. Kristal Astro , a joint venture between DST Communications Sdn Bhd and Astro Malaysia, provides over 100 channels of digital quality satellite television, radio, and other interactive services.
DST's radio programme, Kristal FM (90.7 or 98.7), is highly popular for playing the perfect mix of contemporary hits and classic tunes.
