Eighteen

"Chanyeol?" Baekhyun's eyes adjusted to the harsh white walls surrounding him. He touched his face. Why was he even here? Why was there a cannula in his nose? "Chanyeol?!"

"Baekhyun?" Chanyeol scrambled up from the chair he had been sleeping in, he grabbed Baekhyun's hand, "Its okay, I'm here."

"Why did they take my necklace off?"

"You had to get surgery, Baekhyun."

"I don't care, where's my necklace? Can you check the bags under my bed?"

Chanyeol felt around in the bag underneath the bed. At the bottom, he found the ring, but not the necklace it was on, "I couldn't find the necklace, but here," he put the ring on Baekhyun's finger.

"Chanyeol, really?"

"What?"

"You said it'd be on my finger when we're engaged," Baekhyun grinned mischievously, "We just got engaged."

"What?! No! I just put it on your finger because I couldn't find the necklace."

"No take backs, we're engaged," Baekhyun had been waiting forever for that ring to be on his finger. He'd even put it on his own finger sometimes and fantasize about Chanyeol proposing. This wasn't what he had in mind but he was happy.

"I wanted it to be more special though."

"It's okay. I'll accept it anyway."

A familiar nurse came into the room, "Baekhyun, you're awake."

"Obviously. Can I go home?"

"Right after we take all of those tubes out of you."

Chanyeol called Luhan while Baekhyun was getting his tubes out, "Luhan, Baekhyun woke up."

"Thank god. Is he doing good?"

"Yeah, he's great. Stubborn as ever."

"That's good to hear."

"He gets to come home today. Do you want to come over?"

"Sorry, I would love to, but I already made plans today."

"Who with? Are you going on a date?"

"I don't think it's like that. I'll come visit when I get a chance."

"Okay, Luhan, somebody is calling me on the other line, ciao!" He pushed the answer button, "Hello?"

"Hi, it's Yixing."

"Hi, Yixing," Baekhyun knew that name and he was glaring at Chanyeol.

"Can you see shapes?!" Somebody else yelled through the phone

"Sehun, don't be rude," yet another voice said.

"I can't see anything, moron."

"Want to hang out?" Yixing asked.

"Can't today, Baekhyun is finally coming to visit me."

"Okay, another time!"

"Yep, ciao!"

"Who's Yixing?" Baekhyun asked once they were home.

"A friend. I met him at the clinic last week."

"Why'd you go to the clinic?"

"To get my eyes checked. They said it's possible that I might just have really bad cataracts and that I can get surgery to see again if it is cataracts."
