The Way of Life (A Malec Fanfiction)

Is it official now?

It was really tight in the room, but somehow comfortable. They decided to sleep in the same room. (Which wasn't the best idea.) Simon and Jace on Simon's bed and the rest on the floor. Too bad that Clary was talking while sleeping.

Right now, the Lightwood-siblings are sitting on the couch with their parents. They asked them about the night. After some time, they dismissed Jace and Izzy to talk alone with Alec. "What is it?"

Maryse and Robert exchange a look. It's like they know how Alec will react. "I know you don't like this, but Alice will come over tonight. We will have dinner and discuss the wedding for next week. Maryse says.

Alec doesn't answer. He's tired of fighting. He just nods, stands up and goes to his room. He needs to sleep.

Alec is in his living-room. Reading the newspaper. When he hears someone crying, he walks to the crib. He takes the baby and caresses it. "It's okay. Come to Daddy."

After a while the baby calms down and a hand is on his shoulder. "Hey, darling. How is she?"

Alec gives the sleeping baby a smile. "She's fine. How was your day?" He turns and sees that it's not the person he expectedi it to be.

Alice.

Alec's eyes open. He runs to the bathroom and washes his face. Did he really dream that? He can't believe it. It's his fear. He's going to get married in a few days. With someone he will never be happy with.

"Alexander, come down!" Maryse shouts. "Dinner's ready."

How long did he sleep? He goes downstairs and is greeted by Alice. She hugs him, he doesn't. "Hey. Long time no see."

What the hell? They saw each other yesterday. What kind of game is she playing? Alec has to figure it out, quickly.

"Come sit down. Let's eat."

The conversations are pretty tensed up. Alec mostly nods or shakes his head. Alice is really clingy. She puts her hand on Alec's lap or she takes his hand. Alec always flinches away.

All of a sudden Alec feels really tired. He barely can keep his eyes open.

The last thing he sees ist Alice and Robert exchanging a look.

When Alec wakes up, the sun is rising up. What the hell happened last night? The last thing he remembers is Alice's hand on his lap. He didn't even drink last night.

Confused, he takes a shower. After that he texts Magnus if he wants to meet.

He dresses and leaves. He meets Magnus at Java Jones.

When he enters the café, Magnus is already sitting in a booth.

Alec approaches him. Magnus notices someone walking and lift his head. When he sees these hazel eyes he smiles.

Alec sits down across from Magnus. "Hey."

Magnus nods. "Hey. Is there something important you want to talk about?"

"Just wanted to see you." Alec smiles shyly.

"So, how was dinner with your family and Alice?" Magnus asks after they have talked a little bit. Magnus can see that Alec is not feeling that nice. He has eye bags and he seems dizzy.

Alec groans. "Don't even get me started. It was horrible. She is so fake and she always tried to touch me."

"Should I be getting jealous?" Magnus teases.

Alec gives him a glare, as to say he's not in the mood right now.

Time flies and it's the day before the wedding. Everybody is in the wedding-fever. Maryse and Alice's Mom try to do everything perfect. Alec doesn't care. He spends as much time with Magnus. He knows that it makes Magnus really sad and even though Magnus denies it and plays cool, Alec knows he's acting.

"Do you want to come, too?" Alec asks out of nowhere, while Magnus is playing with his hair and his head on Magnus' lap. Maybe Magnus says no, but if he were there, he would have mental support.

"Hmm...I don't think that this is a good idea. And I mean in both ways. Not a good idea for you and not for me." Magnus says sadly. He doesn't really want to talk about his boyfriend getting married to someone else tomorrow.

Magnus has tried to explain it to Alec why it hurts him that much. It's not that he doesn't trust Alec. And he clearly doesn't think that Alec is Camille in any way.

"Just think about it. I promise, nobody will harm you in any way. I'll be there for you. And I also need you."

"I'll think about it. I promise."
