Desperate Heart

*Chat's POV*

As I race after my soulmate, my chest pounds because of all the excitement and adrenaline rushing through me. I mean it's not everyday you figure out your superhero partner's identity~

Once I find M'lady as I turn a corner, she looks deep in thought so I decide to surprise her.

"Hey Bugaboo, what claw-ver thoughts are going on in that purr-ty brain of yours?", I say with my famous Chat Noir smirk of mine. She brushes me off and goes back to what she was concentrating on. I couldn't help but stare and think about the girl behind that mask. How will I tell her? What will be her response?

I snap back to reality noticing my partner hadn't moved an inch. If we didn't catch up to that Akumatized person soon, it'll take longer to defeat it and I won't have time to tell Marinette, before she dashes off to detransform. I walked a few steps ahead and got Ladybug's attention.

As we finally catch up to bug boy and his 'massive minion' , Dr. Roach (the Akuma's host) brings out his attack which made me giggle a bit wishing I had his so-called 'Human Repellent', so I could use it on Chloe~

Soon enough, both of us get hit with his spray, but oddly enough it has no effect on Ladybug. Why do villain's attacks always work on me but never her?! She really is a lucky bug~

"Maybe it's be-claws you're a bug themed hero?", I ask in a confused way.

Ladybug face-palms and I know it wasn't the best time for a pun, but I just HAD to. Ladybug uses Lucky Charm, blinds the beetle with regular bug repellent and tackles the scientist. I see a dark colored hand lens and call out to Ladybug, giving her the heads up. She shatters the magnifying glass and saves the day once again.

Once we fist bump, Ladybug tries to leave but I didn't let her. I grab her arm and twirl her back to my gaze.

"M'lady, I have something I need to tell you.", I say gently.

She stares blankly at me for a second and rushes off.

"Sorry Chaton, maybe next time!", she waves at me and zips away and out of sight. I should at least make sure she gets back to school safely since she's going in the wrong direction. She's usually more focused, I wonder what's on her mind...

I catch up to her and perch on top of a building as I watch her hand her kwami a cookie. "I wish Plagg liked cookies instead of camembert.", I think to myself. As Marinette starts to walk back in the direction of our school, I use my staff and slide down onto the concrete. I land right in front of her, and although I feel nervous, I also feel so much happiness being able to talk to her without the mask, knowing who she is.

"Hello Purrincess~", I say smoothly.

"What gives me the honor of a visit from the Chat Noir?", she asks in awe of my presence~

"Nothing special..Where ya goin?", I ask playing it cool while she moves her angle trying to get a better glimpse of my awesome leather costume~

"Chat if this isn't important, I'll be going.", she says hurriedly. She must be in a rush to return to class. I wanted to tell her right then and there, but I could tell this wasn't the right time...

I sigh under my breath and disappointedly say, "Hmm...Maybe later then. See ya Mari~"

As I race off I decide to tell her in civilian form because she'll probably take it better talking to Adrien rather than Chat. Plus, Adrien saw the transformation, not her "Chaton". I love it when she calls me that~

Throughout my whole way there I can't stop thinking about Marinette and what I'll say to her. I'm so worried how she'll react I don't even notice my detransformation.

*Adrien's POV*

Fortunately, nobody saw, but Plagg immediately started to whine about his hunger. I told him I would get him something later, he had a fit, but eventually gave in and went to nap inside my pocket. Once I arrive at the front steps of the main hall, I see Marinette about to exit the building. This was the perfect time to talk since the school day was cancelled, right?

I rush over to be right in front of the bluenette when she turns around. As she does so, she looks into my eyes with a surprised look on her face. As a blush starts spreading across my face, I realize our faces were only inches away from each other. "What. Have. I. Done!?" , were my exact thoughts.
