"Up up up, ladies. Today is the day!"
Several groans echo throughout the rich corridors of Bradshaw Manor in exhausted harmony, and the unusual enthusiasm in the headmistresses voice signifies the start to a very eventful day.
The sounds of every chamber door nearly flying off of its hinges is what finally forces me awake as pounding footsteps vibrate the cherry wood floorboards. Boisterous chatter quickly consumes every room. Including mine.
Claire eagerly barrels through my chamber door, a silly smile plastered on her face.
"Adele, Can you believe it?"
I groan.
No, I can't.
"I can already see it," she continues, completely oblivious of my foul mood.
"Prince Nathaniel, asking me for his first dance, and I of course accepting. We'll waltz the night away in complete bliss. Oh, I'm swooning!"
She clasps her hands to her chest, roughly collapsing on my mattress. Her backside lands directly on my shins, which are still very sore, from an intense ballroom dancing lesson.
I pull my feet from beneath her and use all of my strength to roll out of the small bed and onto the ground escaping the confines of the thick pink quilt with a thump.
"I understand your excitement, but was it really necessary to wake me?"
"Heavens Adele, this is important!"
I scoff.
"Is it really?"
She rolls her eyes, wisely deciding to disregard my sarcasm. "I would really appreciate if you would stop answering my questions with questions, Adele."
I release a long disinterested yawn.
"Are we finished yet?"
"Oh, come on! Who's to say you won't have a chance with the prince?"
Ha! Like that's something I'd ever want.
"Claire, your imagination is going to take you to incredible heights, you know that?"
"Well I think a night out is just what you need. You're always so pessimistic about love, this season could change your life!"
