Chapter Twelve: Demonic Presence

Jason's eyes were still a pure white colour, I could not see his pupils at all. I looked at my other five friends, who were all staring at Jason. Jason's back retched up, as if a huge fist crashed into him from the ground. His head hit the hard pavement, which made blood surface from his forehead. As we stood watching in confusion, I could see a barely-there figure, who had Jason by the hair, slamming him into the ground.

I ran to the figure and pushed him away from Jason. I pulled a special blade out of my boot, standing ready infront of Jason. It all went red again.

Is this thing gonna keep doing this? Jeez. Here he comes... The beast charged at me, as if in slow motion. I, too, was like in slo-mo. As I watched the monster swing his fist, I fell to my knees, kicking his legs out from under him. As he fell, I quickly jumped up and swung the blade down, connecting it into the thin tissue of the demon's back. A thick, black liquid started to flow from the wound. Kicking him back, I felt oddly satisfied. The world swirled, and I came back to reality.

I looked up. Everyone was either staring at me or Jason. My clothes were drenched in blood of my own, and the damned monster that tried to attack us. I helped Jason up to his triangle, but Jason was in and out of consciousness. I re-lit the candle, and could see a dim dome around him. My senses have somehow strengthened. My smell, eyesight, and hearing were better than ever. It was like I could sense anything and everything in a 360º angle. Cool.

"Okay..." I said. "Whos turn now?"

Sami slowly raised her hand.

I lifted a shaking hand over the two decks of cards marked Truth and Dare. I wasnt about to let my best friend get hurt.

"D-dare."

Picking up a Dare card, I slowly sucked my breath in.

"You m-must... s-stab the person... infront of you.." I said, looking up at Sami.

Her eyes had changed, too. But this time, they were a deep dark red.

A knife appeared. The bleeding figure was standing behind Sami, whispering in her ear.

"Get away from her, you BASTARD!" I yelled, running.

I lunged at the demon, but something had been lodged into my chest.

The monster. Made my best friend. Literally stab me.

The world turned white. I fell, with a soft thunk.

This is it, I thought. This is how it ends?... I couldn't save them... I... failed....
