The Hero Return

// the later part of this chapter takes place after the sludge villain was caught //

 (Y/N) P.O.V

Since i was raising Laura by myself i had to put being a hero on hold at least till she got older at least. i had moved into my old home and my mom gave me my old baby clothes for her.I had the same eye color as her and we did look a bit alike so it would be easy to see i was her mother, i was hoping this would help me hide Laura from her father finding her. I was curious to see what kind of quirk she had and hoped i would be able to help her use it and maybe even help her become a hero.

Time-Skip

It had been some time since the day i took in Laura and i loved every minute. Yeah it wasn't easy but seeing her happy is the best reward i can imagine. I remember the day she developed her quirk and how happy and excited she looked.

'I was sitting on the back porch of the house watching Laura run around playing in the snow. It was winter and the forecast called for light snowfall all week. Laura had turned four and i was watching her closely for her quirk to develop. i leaned against the banister of the steps and saw her sitting down playing with a hand full of snow. i smile and got up walking to her then saw that she wasn't playing with snow but it did look like ice was covering her hand. i raise an eyebrow "Laura where and how did you get ice around your hand.". "i don't know i was thinking about how the ice covered the ground and the snow then looked at my hand and this slowly covered my hand" Laura looks up at me. I picked her up and walk inside to look at it more. I set her on a chair at the kitchen table and touched it "it's not cold like ice" i started to think then it hit me "Laura can you cover your whole arm in it. Imagine it like you did outside". Laura nods and made it cover her whole arm. "amazing this is your quirk, i don't know what to call it though but i'm sure the doctors have a name for it". i smile. "does this mean i can be a hero" Laura smiles. i nod "yep". "yay!" She cheered happy and raised her arms up jumping up on the chair. The crystal on her arm made her unbalanced and she fell off the chair "I'm okay!"'

I smiled thinking of that memory as i walk to her room to wake her up for school. It took Laura some time to make friends since she was a bit shy but i managed to get her out of her shell. Soon she had made a nice friend named Izuku Midoriya. I was happy that she made a friend as nice as him and i even made a friend from the experience. I became friends with his mother Inko who would help me when she could about being a parent since i couldn't ask my mom all the time due to hero work. She even offered to watch Laura when i was at work and i grateful for it since that meant i can work more for more money, and maybe even start up my hero work again. Izuku was a joy to be around since he was so sweet and would always talk to me about heroes and would always tell me how he wants to be one like AllMight. He had reminded me of my old friend and i could see a great potential in him, i knew he would be a great hero someday.

Through Laura i had made another friend named Mitsuki Bakugou. She was the mother of another friend of Laura's, Katuski Bakugou, from when she was younger. Although Laura and Katsuki have had a rather odd "Friendship", Mitsuki and i still talk. Mitsuki was more intense and did have a temper but she was a nice woman to be around overall. When the three kids were younger i remember them being such good friends I'm not too sure what happened none of them had said. Over the years i would exercise and practice in private after work while Inko watched Laura. Sure it took some time out of my day and was tiring but being a hero is a way better job than where i'm working now to provide for us. I shook the thoughts from my head as i came back to reality. I let out a small laugh "How am i going to be a good hero if i keep getting my head lost in the clouds".

I walked into Laura's room and woke her up "Laura..Laura it's time to get up" i gently shake her. Laura sat up groaning "I'm up" she rubbed her eyes then walked over to her closet pulling out her black uniform. I look at her "Breakfast is on the table don't lag behind or you'll be late". Laura gave a not very understandable reply. I giggled and walk out of her room. I walk to the living room and sat on the couch waiting for Laura to finish getting ready. Once Laura had finished getting ready she grabbed her backpack running out the door yelling goodbye. I waved goodbye to Laura as she runs off to school not to be late. I got dressed to go jogging and started to think. 'i can't believe time went by so fast in 10 months she'll be trying out for U.A'.

Time-Skip 

 
I had taken a break from jogging and went to the shopping center to get something to drink. I look around seeing people frozen in place looking on in horror at a small group of people. I walk to the group and seeing a man with a gun holding it to a girl's head. I look at the girl and see she was very scared. "Look pal just let the girl go whatever you want you aren't going to get this way. It's like some cliche out of a comic book move" I look at him. "Shut up one step closer I'll shot you and the girl" He tighter his grip on her. "P-please don't kill me" the girl sounded like she was about to cry. I glared "you know it's not polite to make someone cry maybe I should give you a lesson in manners" I grinned and run to him using my quirk. He shot at me but the bullets flew through me "what the h- agh!". I punched his nose and twisted his arm taking the gun from him. I pushed him down onto the ground and sat on him holding his arms behind his back tightly. I got an idea and took off my jacket and tie it around his ankles then his wrists holding him in place. "Thank you so much miss you're a hero!" The girl cried happy to be safe. I nod "it's no problem". "She really is a hero that quirk...it's Phaser!" A person yelled pointing at me. "Oh yeah you're right!" People started to cheer about my return. I quickly ran off back home before the media could swarm me. I walk in and get a text from Laura. I look at it seeing it was a picture of me fighting the criminal saying 'why didn't you tell me you are so cool!'. I smile and sit on the couch.

 ~The Next Day~

I had woken up early and got Laura up for school and turned on the t.v seeing that word of my return to being a hero spread like wild fire. "now i know that the media will be annoying but avoid them okay and get to school you still need an education to be a hero" i look at her. Laura nods "yes mom don't worry i won't let you down" she walks out leaving for school. I sigh "i still need to go to the store..ugh stupid criminal messing up my schedule" i muttered to myself and walk out. I made sure to put on a baseball cap and a hoodie hoping to hide my looks a bit to avoid the annoying media getting into my face. It's not that i hate it i just prefer answering questions without the cameras and microphones being shoved in my face invading my personal space. i started to get the things i needed to buy yesterday and felt relief that i manged to stay out of the spotlight today.

After i finished my shopping i returned home and check the time seeing that Laura would be home soon. i put the groceries away and walk to the mail box getting the mail. I went through everything but stopped seeing a letter from U.A. i raised an eyebrow "it's a little early for letters to the students isn't it even the recommended" i open it. I pull out a letter and read it 'dear Ms.(L/N) it has come to my knowledge that you are back in the city and was wondering if you'd like to work at the school as a teacher. I saw how you saved that girl and your quirk is impressive especially in protection. After doing some research and looking into your background i have made a decision. i hope you join our staff and your daughter as our student if you do accept this offer give this number a call ~signed Principle Nezu' . i blinked in surprise as i saw the principal was personally reaching out to get me as a teacher. I started to think then smiled and picked up my phone calling Nezu. "Hello Principle Nezu this is (Y/N) (L/N) and about your offer, i accept". "oh that's wonderful when the time for the new year i'll show you your classroom and i was thinking about having you teach about weakness in a hero since you are good in protection it's always good to think of weaknesses and working on them". "yes of course" i smiled and after a few minuted we hung up. I look at the letter and started to think 'maybe I'll use this to surprise Laura when she gets in'. i smile at my plan and quickly hid the letter hearing the door open and Laura walking in "I'm home". I hummed innocently and started to make dinner. i guess this is one way to make a come back to being a hero.

~Before The Letter Was Sent~

"wow i almost forgot about her being a hero but i can see what got her attention". Nezu looks at the t.v then turned to the person next to him leaning on the wall "thank you Aizawa for bringing this to my attention". "well she's an old friend and a strong hero" Aizawa looked at the screen showing the news talking about the incident. Nezu noticed something in his eyes and made a small plan in his head smiling.
