Kiku watched silently from his place next to the emperor as an armored form approached the proper place to speak to him.
"You are a brave warrior. I thank you for your service to me, however I must ask that for the future of my blood line that you find someone just as brave and rear a child, that will grow into a strong warrior like you. We are at a time of peace for now, and this is the most ideal course of action. Don't you agree, (L/N)." The emperor got right down to business.
"Yes, sir." A muffled feminine voice spoke in affirmation before being dismissed.
"Kiku, I suggest taking a stroll in the palace gardens tonight, the cherry blossoms are due to be in bloom." The emperor smirked slightly as the quiet male nodded understanding.
~Later that evening~
You were walking through the palace gardens as the sun was setting admiring the world around you with a silent awe. Since you were lost in your own little world you did not realize that you were about to bump into someone until you were sitting on your rump before the person who looked just as surprised.
"I am so sorry sir, I did not see you there." You said before you recognized who it was.
"It is quite arright." Kiku stood and offered to help you up when you suddenly realized who he was and bowed properly causing him to sigh. "We are equars there is no need of that."
"How are we equals when I am only a sell sword?" You remained in a bowing position until he lifted your head to where you two came face to face.
"We are both off duty are we not?" He took the liberty to smile ever so faintly.
"Master Honda, I just can't forget my place sir." You turned your head away.
"Now how do you arready know my name and I don't know yours?" Kiku tilted his head in thought.
"R-right forgive me Master Honda! I am (L/n) -" Kiku's eyes widened in recognition.
"The Emperor's bravest warrior?" Kiku beamed a bit.
"I-yes that's me, sir." You bowed again. "I shall leave you to your walk then." You stood to leave but as you had turned to go Kiku's hand shot out and he grabbed your wrist.
"Do you mind warking with me? I wourd rike to get to know you better, if that is arright with you." He turned his head to hide a blush.
"Of course, sir." You smiled softly.
"Uh, Honda is fine. For when we are not working of course." He waved his hand slightly.
"Oh, uh, alright Honda." The two of you began walking.
~Timeskip brought to you by a Shiba Inu~
The two of you have been friends for a little over a year now and you were, sadly, limping to the cherry trees to watch the blossoms fall with Kiku. You silently prayed that he wouldn't notice that you were limping once you got there.
"(Y/n)-san I'm grad that you ma- what happened?" His smile immediately turned to a concerned look.
"I'd rather not tell you." You tried to change the subject.
"Prease, ret me herp." He pressed.
"Fine. You know how I was married two days ago. Well he...he pressed to consummate last night and he... Um, found out that I can't have children and he... Kiku...he...." You cursed yourself for shaking.
"If he did what I think he did I wirr personarry kirr him for it." Kiku's gaze hardened.
"He... After he beat me he... He came to his senses and ... He performed Seppuku this morning at the behest of his father for being a disgrace." You felt the tears roll down your cheeks.
"Come." Kiku opened his arms for you to come to him for comfort which you gladly took.
"Thank you Ki-" You were cut off by an arrow piercing your back in your one good lung. You fell to the ground still in Kiku's arms.
"(Y/n), stay with me. It wirr be arright. Someone prease! I need a doctor! Herp!" He looked around the palace gardens wondering where a servant was in you need them.
"Ki...ku....*cough* lo..look at m-me...." You were fading fast and you knew it. He looked down at you thoroughly afraid for you. You smiled at him. "Th.....thank y-ou....Ki....... ..ku...." With that you breathed your last.
Kyoto had never heard more agonizing screams of loss before nor would they expect to ever again, that is until World War II. Now it has been well over a century since Kiku had lost his dearest friend and through those years his heart had hardened and he became emotionless. He was sitting in his homeroom with the rest of the nations there, Germany, Italy, South Korea, China was there, Russia, France, and many more. He sat silently only slightly listening to the conversation that his two friends were having when the door of the classroom opened to reveal Mr. Rome and somebody else. The pair walked to the front of the class.
"Are you not going to introduce yourself, miss?" Mr. Rome said to the (h/c) haired girl.
"Oh, uh, right. I'm (First) (L/n), I'm a new country and I hope to make more friends than enemies." Her voice made Kiku's eyes snap to her. Her (e/c) eyes met his own dull chocolate ones. She silently made her way over to him as if in a trance. When she reached the empty seat in front of him she didn't sit down. She kept her eyes on his. Her brows knit in confusion. She mumbled only loud enough for him to hear. "Ki....ku.....M-Master Honda...." She then bowed to him. "I'm glad I get to meet someone from my past life." She then sat down and looked out the window and noticed along with Kiku that the cherry blossoms were in bloom.
