Casey stayed at the hospital for a few more hours before she decided to discharge herself. Richards gave her all her belongings, including a new shirt since her old one was soaked in blood. Casey struggled with putting the blue shirt on over her head because of the pain it caused her. The doctor warned her not to put her arms over her head or pick up anything over five pounds, but she would ignore his advice.
She put on her jeans with as much trouble and could barely slip into her sneakers. When she finished dressing, she sat on her bed and waited for the nurse to bring the paperwork. Richards left Casey's side while she changed, but came back after she finished. "I know Clark promised you a ride wherever you wanted to go after you were freed. I just want to let you know that I'll keep up his end of the deal."
Casey felt bad that she yelled at Clark the last time she saw him. She didn't like Clark, couldn't stand him really, but that that stab in her heart reminded her of how horrible she treated him. "I have a place to go. And you can take me, if you want, but I don't want you to get your hopes up."
Richards nodded and sat in a chair by her bed. "Will I be disappointed?" Richards asked. Casey shrugged.
"I don't know what you're expecting. Just know, things aren't what they seem."
Their talk was interrupted by a knock at the door by a young nurse. "Excuse me, but your discharge paperwork is here." She gave Casey the paperwork to fill out and left the duo alone again.
"Why are you speaking in riddles?" Richards asked once they were alone.
"Because it's not my secret to tell." Casey answered him simply. Richards kept silent as Casey sped through the pages of endless questions. When she finished, Casey almost bolted from her room, threw her completed paperwork at the nurse, and sped out of the hospital.
Casey couldn't move fast because of her injury, but Richards was there to help guide her and keep from passing out. He helped her get into the passenger side of his car before he made his way into the driver's seat. He buckled his seat belt and waited for Casey's instructions. She fidgeted with her hands before she spoke.
"It's quite a drive from here. Are you ready for that?"
Richards never felt more glad that he drank an extra large cup of coffee that day. "I'm ready."
Casey turned to look out the window. "Turn right." She said. The drive to the hotel was quiet, except for the few times Casey gave Richards directions. The whole ride Richards was excited and a bit nervous. He was going to do something most law officials would kill to do. But what if Casey was right? What if what he expected was different than the reality? How could he fake his excitement? Richards shook his head to clear the thoughts that frustrated him.
"Don't over think it." Casey told him as she continued to stare out the window.
"I wasn't." Richards lied.
Casey rolled her eyes, even though she knew he couldn't see her. "Whatever you say, Detective. Turn here." Richards did as she said and continued driving. He had never been to this part of Baltimore before. There wasn't much to see, just a few dozen dead trees and one one stretch of road.
"Are we close?" Richards asked after about an hour of driving.
"Why are you pure?" Casey asked him out of the blue. Richards gave her a side glance before he spoke.
"I told you. My mom and her boyfriends loved to beat me." Casey was glad his story didn't change. She was testing him because they were so close to the hotel now.
"Right here." Richards pulled up to a ragged looking motel that consisted of two buildings; an office and a three story building full of rooms. Both buildings were ugly.
"This is it?" Richards asked, already disappointed.
"Did you expect an evil lair or something?" Casey snapped, turning to face him. Richards didn't pull into the hotel all the way, so she couldn't see much of anything.
"No, but this is just a motel. A run down one at that." Casey undid her seatbelt and grabbed her stuff.
"It's a hotel, first off. Second, you don't have to come inside. You can sit out here in your car and decide what to do. But I'm going in." Casey pulled the passenger side door open and slammed it behind her.
She walked into the hotel, her heart pounding so fast she knew the Beast could hear it. And she was right. A few seconds later, she saw his silouhette standing on the second floor outside of his room.
"Honey, I'm home." She said jokingly. The Beast jumped off of the second floor and ran towards Casey. He picked her up in his arms and hugged her tightly. Casey wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face into the crook of his neck and his shoulder.
"You're here." He whispered. "I'm here. I'm really here." She replied.
He pulled away from their embrace so he could kiss her passionately. Casey melted into his kiss and felt alive for the first time in a long time. He ended the kiss too soon for her and rested his forehead on hers.
"And now our family is complete." He said. Casey smiled intertwined their fingers.
"Yes. We are. And we'll never be apart again." The Beast agreed and gave her a kiss on her forehead. "Let's go see our son."
While the Beast and Casey had their reunion, Richards kept his eyes down to think about what he should do. Should he go in and meet the man he's been wanting to meet since he got this case? Or should he drive away and come back another day? His thoughts were cut off when someone knocked on the passenger window. He looked up to see Elizabeth standing there. She waved to him and he unlocked the door.
"Hey, baby." She said seductively as she got in the car. "Whatcha doing?"
Richards gave a one arm shrug. "I don't know what to do."
Elizabeth started twirling the ends of her black hair. "About what, babe?" Richards knew she did that to drive him crazy. He felt his pants tighten a bit and tried to push those thoughts away.
"I don't know if I want to meet this guy I've made into a hero. What if he's not like I picture him to be?"
Elizabeth bit her bottom lip. "Well, he's not." She said.Richards gave her a look that said she wasn't helping.
"Listen, no one is who you expect them to be. Did you expect me to be a partner of a criminal and excellent in bed? No."
Richards did actually expect one of those things to be true. "Now, are you going to let fear decide for you or are you going to go into that hotel and meet him?"
Richards moved his hand up Elizabeth's thigh until it rested close to her vagina. "I think I want to do something else first."
Elizabeth gave him a sexy smile and moved to straddle Richards. He moved the seat back so that his seat was away from the steering wheel and he was laying down. "Distracting me, naughty boy? Fine. But after this, you met him. Promise?" Elizabeth asked, giving him her pouty face.
"I promise. After this, I'll meet this beast."
Elizabeth smiled at his phrasing. "If you only knew." She mumbled under her breath.
