A hand touched my shoulder and I froze once again. I was ready to start running when the voice asked, "Butterfly, are you okay?" I have never felt so relieved because of Jayden before.
"Yeah, uh- yes, yes I'm fine. Absolutely fine," I said nervously.
"You're shivering. Are you sure? You don't seem fine to me." He asked again.
"Yes- yes I'm fine. Just a bit cold. That's all." I lied to him. I tried looking over his shoulder to see if 'he' had followed me but didn't see anyone.
"Are you sure? What are doing out here? Do you need something?" He was persistent. This guy serious doesn't get the clue when to leave the girl alone.
"I'm fine, Jayden. I'm looking for Melanie. Please leave me alone." I said, annoyed this time.
That idiot completely ignored my words. "Oh, but she already left thirty minutes ago with Axel. Didn't she inform you?" Now I felt even more dejected than before. Though I had doubted her being still present here, a part of me was still hoping for her not to ditch me. But I wasn't angry with her. At this point, I didn't even care.
"Hey, it's alright. I can drop you if you want. I was just leaving." He said in a comforting voice. Wait! Comforting? Since when did Jayden and comfort get into the same sentence?
'Ever since you've had a crush on him, apparently.' My inner self said exasperatedly.
'Shut up,' I said back mentally. I then realised Jayden's eyes one and remembered that I had yet to answer him. I quickly bit out an answer.
"Oh, n-no, no it's fine. I mean I can go by myself. Thank you."
"Don't be stupid, Butterfly. You're not going to find a cab this late and you sure as hell are not walking back home. Come on. I'll drop you." I could see that he was not going to back off. I had no choice but to go with him.
"Fine," I said with a sigh. "But only because I have no choice."
"Sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night, Butterfly," he said teasingly, walking towards the parking lot. "But I know you're always thinking about what's under this," He added with a smirk, gesturing to his suit-clad torso. That conceited-i'd rather not say the word.
"You're so full of yourself," I muttered silently, tired of the all the events of tonight. "You are definitely not worth occupying my thoughts, Mr A." I said when I entered his black sleek sports car.
"Does 'A' still stand for 'arsehole'?" He asked as soon as he entered the key into ignition. He looked utterly curious with his lips pursued.
"You bet," I replied with mock arrogance. Soon we were on the road. The silence surrounding us was comforting yet kind of disturbing. I knew that Jayden was still curious about my weird behaviour when he found me at the hall's entrance. He would glance at me every few seconds. I was irritated by that.
"Can't you keep your eyes on the road," I snapped. "Stop looking at me every two seconds."
"Chill Butterfly," he scoffed. "Don't get ahead of yourself. I wasn't looking at you. You certainly aren't that beautiful for me to keep looking at you."
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever helps you sleep at night, Mr A." I repeated his own words and surprisingly, he turned quiet afterwards. I decided to turn the radio on just to mess with him. Selena's voice blasted through the radio as soon as I did so and Jayden visibly cringed. I knew that he had always hated Selena.
Can't keep my hands to myself
Jayden's head whipped around and he shot me a meaningful look.
