Elaine's POV

Once on the interstate, I looked back at Hunter real quick to check on him.

Yet he was fast asleep. I just kinda giggled an turned on some music.

I heard my phone ringing, so I pulled over real quick, ya know I have a baby in the car, I'm not risking a wreck; especially in the car with Hunter.

Once I was pulled over I looked at the Caller ID. It was just a random number.

I answered.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hello, this is Thriton Hospital, is this Elaine Williams?"

"Yes." I said, starting to get worried.

"Yes, this is Dr. Layton. We have your parents here with us in the hospital, they have been in a terrible wreck with an 18-wheeler. They have no brain activity, so we have them on ventilators to keep them alive and see if they will wake up. But we are not completely sure. But I was told that they wanted to tell you that if anything happened to keep going to your destination and remain there. That if they don't make it, then to call a relative. I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. I am hoping the best for you. I will call you back with updates on your parents every morning/night. Okay. Thank you for your cooperation." The doctor said.

I just sat there, blankly. With the phone still in my hand, with a strait face, no expressions whatsoever.

I turned my music off, Hunter was still asleep. But over the time I was driving, I thought about what would happen if they didn't make it. I would have to take Hunter in as my own. Be a parent. I am only 17, almost 18. I don't exactly know everything about parenting..

I pulled back on the road and kept driving.

We were now only 30-45 minutes away from the condo.

We pulled up to the condo. I got out and walked around the truck to get Hunter out too.

After I got him we walked into the condo lobby to get a luggage cart. I held his hand while pushing to cart to the truck.

I got all the bags out, I gladly had his too.

I decided I put the baby carrier over my chest to carry him, as I pushed the cart full of luggage into the lobby, to get the card to my room.

"Here is room entrance card for the top floor. Room 2110. Enjoy your stay ma'am."

"Thank You." I replied.

I put it in my back pocket and pushed the cart and myself to the elevator.

A really nice guy on the elevator helped me get it into the elevator and pushed the button to my floor. We were on the top floor.

So was he.

So we both got off the elevator and he started to follow me, I got to my room and he was in the room next to me.

Awesome..

I got into the room and put everything down and put Hunter in the crib provided from the condo.

After I got him back to sleep, I got a call back from the hospital.

"Hello." I said.

"Hello Elaine. This is the hospital calling back to give you the update about your parents. Your father has woken up a little more, but you mother has gotten worse. We have your mother on some antibiotics to try and revive her. If she isn't awake by 12:00 pm tomorrow, then we will have to take her off and let her pass. But your father, he has woken up now, in very much pain, but with some memory loss. We have a relative down here with him in case he needs anything while we aren't in the room. That is all for tonight. I will call you back at 8:00 am tomorrow morning to re-update you. I am once again so very sorry for you. And we are hoping for the best." I heard the doctor say.

I then heard the line go dead.

I felt myself start crying, a couple tears going down my face.

I quickly wiped my face and walked over to the bed.

I fell asleep instantly..
