I was 7 when my mother left me in this orphanage. She said she'd come back for me and every single day after that, I waited for her. I'm 17 now and I know she's not coming back.
Kids around here always stayed away from me and I only had one friend, Emily. We always had fun together and she was the only person who understood me. We did everything together and I thought it would always be that way but I was wrong. Last year someone adopted her and they said she was just so wonderful and full of joy, totally the opposite of how I am. I felt more alone than ever since that day. No one would ever want me.
But now I'm finally getting adopted. Days ago, a couple came and said they've always wanted a daughter. I was puzzled since there are girls here younger than me whom they can adopt but they chose me. Hope sprung inside me and I thought that this was finally my chance to feel wanted and loved.
Everything was taken care of and today my new parents are picking me up.
They were grinning when they saw me and I couldn't help myself but to smile. I hurried to get in their car and just leave this place but as soon as we got in, i knew something was wrong.
Their grins disappeared and the vision of loving parents was gone.
"Hurry up Michael! He's waiting for her!" The woman said impatiently.
"Shut up Carol! I'm driving as fast as I can!" The man yelled.
Where were they taking me? What did I get myself into? My head was spinning.
