CHAPTER 28: TAKING THINGS SLOW

I walk in Khai apartment looking for kyleigh. She wasn't in the living room. Maybe she in her room. I walk to her room to see her and Dave playing with her dolls. She look up at me and smile.

"Mommy"she came and hug me.

"Hey my baby. Did you took your bath?"she nod her head. "Brush your teeth?"I raised my eyebrows.

"Ooppps"she ran to the bathroom. I watch her go inside the bathroom.

"You made it home. Thought your boyfriend was gone kill me"Dave chuckle. I smile trying not to laugh at what happened earlier.

"John isn't my boyfriend"I said.

"Oh really, you was acting like y'all was together when I came"Dave raised his eyebrows.

"John is a... John"I said slowly.

"What you mean?"he narrowed his eyebrows.

"When I left, John had a prostitute sucking him off and he was snorting coke"I said.

"Don't go back to him. Ima tell Brandy to don't go back to him, he's to dangerous to be around"he said walking to the living room.

"Dave"I called him. He turn to me. "Why are you so caring now but last month you wanted to kill me so bad?"

"I was mad with you, you kept running with my child who I wanted to see"he said.

"Dave I was scared because I thought something bad was gone happen to her. Like you taking her away from me and killing me, that's why I kept running away"I said.

"I wouldn't hurt her like that, I won't kill you. I just want to love you"he said.

I look down at my feet. "I'm all done mommy"kyleigh came out the bathroom.

"Okay. We got bad news kyleigh"I said.

"What?"she said looking at me and Dave.

"It's time for bed kiddo"Dave said. He walk her in her room.

"Awww daddy, can I play for few more minutes?"kyleigh ask.

"No, it's pass your bedtime. It's 9:59, oh no kyleigh, time for bed"Dave said. I smile and walk out the door. I lean on the railing and watch the stars glow. This is so beautiful.

I looked at the stars when the door open. "So this is where you chill at?"Dave ask

"Yes, i always clear my mind out here"I said.

"Mmmm, okay"he said leaning on the railing.

"Now I probably don't have a job no more"I frown.

"I will take care of you and kyleigh"he said.

"Dave, I can take care of myself"I said.

"No, I'm forreal. This my daughter and your my girl"

I laugh at him. "When did I became your girl?"

"Just now"he grab my waist. "I love you kaven and I really want to be with you again"

"Again? We was never together Dave, you was taking care of me when I was pregnant"I said.

"I call that being with you. I bought you clothes and loved you"he said. He was right. He did loved me.

"Fine"I mumble. "But, I want to take things slow"

"Alright, let's take things slow"he smile at me.

"Good night Dave"I let got of him.

"Really no good night kiss"he said.

"good bye Dave"I open the door and close it. I walk in the kitchen to get something to drink. I heard the door open slowly.

I turn around to see Dave coming in. I slap my hands on my tights. "Really"

"I'm getting my keys"he said. He grab his keys and phone. "Night love"he walk out the apartment.
