"Good afternoon Miss. Worthington! Would you like me to—"

"No," I snapped without missing a beat.

The black-haired secretary, whose name was some variation of the name Katherine flinched in her seat at my tone.

Damn. That was rude, wasn't it?

I fought the urge to roll my eyes as I forced myself to flash her an apologetic smile, "What I meant to say was, no, thank you."

Before she could acknowledge my otherwise insincere apology, I continued my journey through the lobby toward the elevators.

You see, I was already annoyed for more reasons than one, and it didn't help that I was currently on my way to meet with the second most egotistical person I know.
