The smell of roasted coffee, freshly brewed tea, just out of the oven pastries and cakes filled the little coffee shop. There were only a few customers in the shop due to the fact it was still early.

The wall clock in the shop showed 6 a.m.

"Miss Kim." the barista called.

"One crispy croissant and a freshly brewed cup of Joe. That will be 5 dollars."

Jemiy kept her purse in her handbag after handing the barista the money.

"Wait until mom hears about this. My own sister.....robbing me in broad daylight."

"Come on, sis. You are paid four figures for every crime you solve." Allison put her finger on her chin, as if deep in thought. "That's like almost a quarter of a million per year! Can't you spare a few dollars for a good breakfast made by your good old sister?"

Jemiy slapped her sister's arm.

"Not so loud! Jemiy scolded.

"Yeah.Yeah."

"If I get robbed on my way to the prescient and don't make it back, I'll haunt you for the rest of your life."

"Don't worry. No one messes with Jemiy Kim,Head of Crime Fighting Department."

Jemiy looked up and saw that it was already 20 minutes past six. She grabbed her things and headed for the door.

"Have a great day sis. Don't forget to kick names and take butts!"

"I believe that it goes the other way around."

Jemiy laughed as her sister muttered 'whatever'.

The morning air was cool and crisp. Birds were chirping happily. The Portland roads were not busy, well, not yet anyway. Jemiy sipped her warm drink as she made her way to the precinct.

Her boots clicked against the marble floor and echoed once she entered the precinct.

After exiting the elevator and turning two lefts, Jemiy pushed the glass door and took a seat at her usual place.

The precinct slowly became alive. Detectives, consultant and policemen started to fill the place. The sounds of phoned ringing and fax machines filled the air.

"This is getting out of hand. We tried everything but nothing works. It's almost like this persons a ghost." Captain Lee – who joined Jemiy after a few minutes past 7 – complained.

"Don't worry sir. I'm sure that well catch the culprit soon."

Captain Lee nodded his head at Jemiy enthusiasm.

"I'm assigning you to work with a few professional. I'm sure that they will help you solve the case."

Jemiy groaned at the thought of having a partner.

"I hope that my new partner...."

"Partners" Captain Lee corrected her.

Jemiy inhaled and exhaled slowly. " Partners wont be like Terry."

Captain Lee laughed at her sentence.

"Don't worry. Your partners are girls and they're well respected in their department. You won't have to worry about kicking them in the balls for drooling over you."

Just then, a girl – wearing a long sleeved black shirt and jeans – entered the room.

"Good morning, captain." Taylor greeted with confidence.

"Good morning, Taylor. I would like you to meet Jemiy, your team leader."

Taylor and Jemiy shook hands.

"Strong grip. I like it." Jemiy complimented.

"Taylor Johnson, she's from the LAPD. Just transferred to our department."

"Nice to meet you," Taylor greeted and took a seat beside Jemiy.

"Its not nice to meet you," Jemiy fired back.

The elevator dinged and a girl walked out slowly. Her hair was in a messy bun. Hands tucked into her pockets, she walked towards the room where everyone was gathered.

After entering the room and taking a seat opposite Taylor and Jemiy, Leah crossed her arms and muttered a simple good morning.

"Now that everyone is here, I'd like to start." Captain Lee handed each girl a file and continued. "As all of you know, a killer is on the loose. We have lost four lives to the killer. I'm not planning to let the fifth murders commence. So I've recruited the three of you to stop the killer and bring this serial killer to justice. Everyone is afraid to go out, to eat, to sleep or even blink. I hope that the three of you can put an end to this madness."

"Sir. Why did you keep using the word killer and not her or him." Leah questioned.

"As I said, this killer's almost like a ghost. No footprints. No fingerprints. All there's left at the crime scene is fur."

"Fur?" Taylor asked.

"Yes." Captain Lee looked at his watch, then spoke up. "Oh my, I've got to go. I have another meeting with the Mayor in 10. Please excuse me."

"Leah Thompson, am I right? I'm Jemiy Kim." Jemiy broke the ice.

"Hello." Leah replied in a happy tone.

What happened to the grumpy female a while back, Taylor thought. Weird.

"I'm from the NYPD." Leah continued.

"No wonder you don't know how to interact with people." Taylor snickered.

"Like you're any better." Leah fought back.

"Oh yeah, then why sudden mood change?"

"What does this have to do with my mood!"

"Everything, weirdo!"

"Well, then Miss Hacker of the Year, how better than me are you!"

"Enough!" Jemiy slammed her hands on the table top. "If either of you can't work together then get off my team!"

"I can't work with her. I won't!" Taylor shouted and left the room.

"I'm going home." Leah scoffed and slammed the door.

"Oh God, please help me." Jemiy groaned. This was it. This was what she feared. Not only did she have two partners, but both of them were not the same boat.

"Abandon ship. Were going down." Jemiy said to herself.
