Wednesday was finally here.
We met in the lobby a few minutes before ten, listening to Cain rant about all of us being late and having no sense of responsibility. It was way too early to be lectured, but it was still amusing to see him like this.
We had all gotten closer the past few days. Cain had a huge temper, but a soft side he rarely showed unless me or Jaden teased him, and a vocabulary so charming it would make Queen Elizabeth's cheeks go red with embarrassment. Cecil was still the everso refined gentleman that found entertainment in Cain and Jaden's usual fights. Mike was very friendly and a loyal boyfriend, he kissed the very ground Adrian walked on. Adrian was shy and quiet most of the time, but he had told me he was happy he could finally show his affection towards his boyfriend around us, given not everyone looked at their relationship with the same respect we did.
"Alright, mom, I'll go to bed early tonight so I can be on time tomorrow." Jaden was saying after Cain had finally stopped his tirade. He curled his lip in disgust at being called mom.
"If you wanna catch a killer, you'll have to wake up earlier than this, dumbass. You were late all these days."
"Cain's right, Jay. We have been meeting at nine everyday and we must keep doing so, it's the only way we'll all be safe. I'm sorry, Cain. We will try arrive here on time from now on." I offered with a smile, to which Cain just rolled his eyes at and looked away as if silently accepting my apology.
"So, east building. Who's ready to start our Detective Conan adventure?" Mike suggested so we could start looking for clues. Everyone nodded in agreement, except Adrian, who blinked as if he suddenly remembered something. He looked back at the clock above the fireplace and winced.
"Ah, I forgot... I have class in thirty minutes. You guys go."
"You sure, babe? I can go with you and wait outside your classroom. I really don't mind." Mike added with a frown, clearly concerned, but Adrian shook his head and gave him a gentle kiss on the lips before he got up from the leather sofa where we all sat everyday.
"I'll be fine, trust me. I'm stronger than I look, honey. You guys go do your detective thing and you can update me later. Be safe, everyone," He added as he started to walk away, only to pause midway to sprint back to Mike, giving him a more passionate kiss that made my cheeks go red. Mike instantly melted in his arms and seemed to never want to let go, but Cain cleared his throat loudly to stop their love making.
"I love you, Mikey." Adrian whispered gently to him, his lips brushing over Mike's. They smiled at each other with such amount of love you could practically feel it in the air.
"Love you too, Adrian. Now go before I drag you back to my room and lock you up there all day." Mike said teasingly, smiling at Adrian as he entered the elevator to grab his school books in his room.
We left the building as a group to go towards the east building afterwards. I winced as a cold breeze struck my face like thin slices. The air felt extremely cold, far too cold for an autumn morning.
I had this weird feeling in the pit of my stomach, as if something was trying to tell me something. Like that gut feeling you get before really bad things happen. But it was probably just the fact that I haven't eaten anything yet.
We reached the east building after a couple minutes. We were pretty silent most of the way, Cain and Jaden occasionally arguing about some random thing, Cecil laughing at them and trying to get Cain to snap to start another argument.
The air felt different than most mornings, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one that noticed. It had been a few days since that incident occurred, but the eerie grim feeling could still be felt in the air.
