"I'm your father."

I felt the air leave my lungs at those words. Words that seemed to linger in the air of the tall dining room that suddenly felt extremely cold. Three simple words that would've made anyone happy, but for me it just brought with it a lot of questions. And I wasn't sure what to ask first.

I stared at Hades, a frown working itself on my face. One I'm sure looked a lot like his own right now. Was I really his daughter? Was he the one that abandoned my mother and I when I was a mere baby? Hades scowled at me, probably listening to my thoughts.

"I had no idea your mother was carrying my child. If I had known, I would've brought you both here." He added under his breath, averting his eyes when Persephone glared at him. I frowned further.

"Why did you leave her?"

"That's none of your goddamn business."

"It is my business if it involves my mother and I," I returned icyly, glaring at the god who glared back at me with the same intense ruby eyes, but I wasn't going to back down now, "She said you left us when I was a baby. Why? For what reason would you abandon your own child? Were we not enough for a powerful mighty god such as you?" I could feel Hades' anger emanating off him in thick waves, his powers pulsing in the air as a warning to keep my mouth shut, not like I would listen to him. If he really was my father, then I had quite some things I'd love to talk to him about. Starting with why he left us.

"You have no idea what you're talking about, gem," Hades spat with enough venom to kill an elephant. I scowled at the nickname he used for me often. He narrowed his eyes on me before he continued.

"First of all, yes I'm your father, whether you like it or not. Bloodtests don't lie, you're the child of a god of death and I just happen to be one of many. Second of all, I have no memory of banging a mortal named Ahne, so one of us was lied to. Probably both. So congratulations little girl, I'm your father. And if that isn't enough proof, you'd have to be blind to not see you have my goddamn red eyes," Then he paused to scoff at my look, "What, did you think they were a precious gift from God to make you look prettier than the other humans?"

"I feel like I'm watching a weird episode of Maury." Cain muttered under his breath after a ringing silence. I gritted my teeth, trying not to blast Hades' head off with my newly aquired powers. Who the hell did he think he was?

"Your father and the god of the Greek underworld, gem." Hades answered to my thoughts with a smirk, making me clench my fists in irritation.

"They're a curse rather than a gift," I said at last, my voice tight, then folded my arms over my chest, "Well, good to finally know who's fault it is my eyes are like this."

"Hey, could've been your mother." Hades said with a shrug that only fueled my anger.

"My mother has black eyes."

"Not that mother, little gem."

"Ahne is my only mother!" I snarled angrily at him, feeling the rumbling storm of power inside me react to my anger, shooting out of me in a wave of power that made the expensive chandelier above us shake dangerously, the blue torches go out and the glass of the tainted windows crack and burst into pieces, a crooked line cracking the surface of the table and aiming right in Hades' direction. I looked around in surprise at the dark room that seemed to tremble in response to my powers.

How could I even do something like that?

Everyone looked as caught off guard as myself, except Hades, who looked at me with an expression I couldn't quite decipher. It was hard to even read his emotions right now. All I could feel was anger and I wasn't sure if it was my own or his.
