"This has got to be the worst day ever!" Leo exclaimed over the fighting as he slammed his hammer down on one of the gorgons, disintegrating her.

Jason had to agree. They had finish their talk with Percy and Winchesters not even an hour ago, and they were barely halfway through their journey when monsters suddenly started to pop out of nowhere. And there were a lot of them.

"This is impossible!" Annabeth shouted, swinging her ivory sword into a harpy. "There shouldn't be these many monsters!"

"Maybe they're from Tartarus!" Frank yelled back, notching two arrows at the same time and releasing them, hitting their intended target. "Remember what Dean said? About Tartarus having an army?"

"I think Frank may have point," Hazel called back, ducking underneath a club-wielding Cyclops. "Dean did mention an army!"

"So what?" Piper blocked a harpy that was aiming for her face. "These guys are the distraction or something?"

"Possibly!" Jason shouted in reply. "That's the only logical reason why we have so many monsters on top of us!"

They had gotten to the middle of Indiana when the first wave of monsters attacked. The demigods barely had enough time to grab their weapons when the creatures came onto the Argo II. Thankfully, there was now only two hundred less than when they first showed up.

Then again, it really wouldn't be a quest without any monsters showing up at every corner.

Jason was fighting with all his might, manipulating the winds to get the upper hand against the bigger monsters. Once or twice, he would hear Leo shout, "Things are about to get heated up in here!" before lighting his whole body up in flames, grinning like a madman.

A couple of times, he saw a glance of Piper, who gave the smaller monsters a charming smile before politely telling them to kill themselves.

Frank would quickly change from a bear to a gorilla to a wolf, confusing the group of monsters that was circling him, whereas Hazel was manipulating the Mist, distracting the monsters momentarily before plunging them through with her sword.

Annabeth, on the other hand, would put on her cap and become invisible, giving her the chance to sneak up on unsuspecting monsters and cutting them down.

Jason slashed his sword at the three-bodied daemon, a winged monster with three human bodies that ended with serpent tails, that was currently trying to swat him down like a fly. So far, Jason hadn't been graced with fatally injuring the daemon, which was starting to get on his nerves.

"Would you please just die already?!" Jason shouted in frustration. But no matter how nicely he asked, the daemon refused to just lay down and die.

The daemon laughed at him. "Yield demigod!" He taunted. "You only delay the inevitable!"

"Over my dead body," Jason muttered, raising his sword again. "Besides," he replied louder, "aren't you supposed to be, oh I don't know, a little more frightening? 'Cause I gotta say, I've seen a lot more scarier monsters than you."

Apparently, the daemon didn't like that comment very much. He roared and flew over to Jason to try and grab him out of the sky, but Jason was faster. He maneuvered out of the way, just missed being yanked by the daemon by mere inches. Jason saw an opportunity to hit the daemon, as the monster realized that he was behind him.

Jason got a few good strikes in and was about to deliver the fatal blow when he heard Percy's voice.

"Jason!"

Jason froze, which would soon turn into a rookie mistake, but right now he didn't care.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, Jason knew that Cyclopes could mimic voices, but he'd forgotten that they could portray the emotions so...precise. The raw pain in his cousin's voice...
