After riding along for a little while, I reached a large white tent with pink stripes and blue frills. I parked my bike among several others and walked around to the back where a large purple RV framed in silver swirls stood with its door ajar. I skipped up the steps where another girl with an all too familiar clown face sat playing cards with a black cat wearing a blue frill around his neck.
"I swear, that cat's gotta be a human in disguise. He's so damn smart it's creepy." The girl looked up with a grin. "Calamity! What's up?" I smiled as we happily hugged. "Nothing much Jasper, how's the game with Lucifer?" She glared at the feline who calmly licked his paw.
"He's winning." I restrained a giggle. "Seriously? You've been playing card games with him since the first day we met, and you still can't beat him?" She crossed her arms with a baby pout. "It's not my fault he's too smart for his own good." I laughed, she shivered and Lucifer ducked under the table, trembling.
"Please avoid laughing, your laugh sounds like a 50 foot demon with vocal cords as deep as the sea." I closed my lips with a smile. "Sorry. You know me, I can find a reason to laugh for just about anything." She rolled her eyes. "Speaking of demons, have you found out anything about your pop yet?" Almost all our conversations came back to me and my unknown dad.
"Nothing. I swear, ever since I asked on my thirteenth birthday mom's become more secretive about it. It's a good thing school's out, now I can focus all my attention on worming it out of her." Jasper shook her head, running her fingers through her blue wig.
"When are you gonna get it through your head? If you want to find anything about your dad, you have to look for him yourself." "Fat chance. You know how everyone is around here; never leave the town, never go anywhere." I sighed. "I swear the only reason mom and I came here was because she felt like a burden on godmother Beverly." Beverly and my mom had been best friends for the longest time, when I came into the world, mom made her my godmother. She always made sure to call every other month but I hadn't seen her face in years.
"Well forget about that, we've got a show to do. The rest of the gang will be here in half an hour." I smiled at Jasper's voice before going to sit by the window. As she went to the bathroom, Lucifer looked at me from the table, eyes calm and calculating.
"You're a real creep you know that?" He licked his paw casually, though he looked like he was laughing inside, amused by what I said.
