Jasper didn't usually come down to the sewers with me, 'too dirty for me' she often said, but there were some exceptions, tonight was one of them. At its center was a dry spot where we set up a ratty picnic blanket, sometimes Jasper brought raw meat for Lucifer and I, tonight unfortunately wasn't one of those times.

"So you have a crush on someone, who knew?" I rolled my eyes from my spot laying down on my back and gazing up at the darkness above. "Don't sound so surprised, it was bound to happen eventually. Like you were bound to get stuck with Lucifer." "Touché." She smiled, stroking the cat's back as he purred sweetly.

"You have any idea how you'll break it to him that you're a killer?" "Not a clue." "Then you better have a will planned." I sighed, sitting up and running my fingers through my hair. "What if I don't want to tell him?" Her face hardened a little. "You can't not tell him, I know you get hungry every time he gets afraid." My mouth started to water slightly, fangs just barely sliding out, only to be pulled back by yours truly. She continued to wait for my answer.

"Look, this is the first time I've ever felt like a normal kid, someone who doesn't rip other kids to shreds and can't be within five feet of a six-year-old without feeling like one in a candy shop, I don't want to mess this up. I can't." "You're gonna have to. Look, when I first met you, I felt like it'd be a repeat of my past all over again. I thought I couldn't afford to trust you, but then you revealed who, or even what, you are, and I showed you my scars and look at us: we can actually hang out together and not have to worry about our tastes or deals we ultimately regret making. Just because you're afraid to tell the truth doesn't mean you shouldn't." There was a pause during which I let her words sink in.

"Speaking of deals accidental, how much longer are you employed to Lucifer?" She rolled her eyes, she knew I was trying to change the subject but went along with it. "I don't know, maybe another year or so, you know how jealous he gets." The cat lightly hissed from her lap, I smiled slightly as a thought crossed my mind.

"You could stay with him. When the deal's over you stay beside him as friends, maybe even something more." She stopped to think about it, the black feline looking up at her with those almost human yellow eyes.

"I guess I could, it's not like I have all that much to live for anymore." She looked down and the cat with a playful smile. "And you always have gotten rather jealous every time a guy comes within five feet of me." He only purred as she scratched him behind the ears, leaving the both of us to smile softly and ponder the future ahead.
