A Rival

I stroll into school, bright and early. My fingers are tingling and my heart pounds happily. Nothing bad could possibly happen on this marvelous day. Perhaps, Ken will come with me to get some ice-cream. The vanilla smelling classroom lifts up my spirit.

"Class, today we have a new student. Her name is (e/n-Enemy Name)," states the teacher.

A girl with (h/c) hair skips in, her innocent smile shining across her face.  After taking a seat, she is just like a perfect student; quiet, happy, engaging, a listener. How could someone be so focused on school?!

~After Class~

"Hi I'm (y/n), nice to have you at our school," I say, holding out a hand.

"Are you a blader?" (e/n) asks, refusing to shake my outstretched hand.

I nod and retract the handshake.

"Right, let's battle," she says sternly.

"O-ok then," I say, a bit startled.

We reach the roof top and are alone. Crouched, ready to launch. I wonder if this kid is any good, since she is such a goody two shoes.

"Three... Two... One... Let it rip!"

The beys launch in and (b/n) spins well. That was a pretty good launch, I must say. (B/n) collides with the opposition's bey. I feel cautious on how well this girl is at blading, but I'm sure I must be better. After all, I have been training a lot more recently. I look up to see (e/n), grinning. What could she possibly be grinning at? I stare back down at the beys and notice her bey speeding up.

"Watch out (b/n)!" I say, but it's too late.

"Go! Take it with a burst finish (e/b-enemy's bey)!" (e/n) says, before laughing meanly.

I inhale as I see my bey burst. Something doesn't feel right. No way she could have burst me after all the training I have done.

"Nice try anyway, loser. Perhaps one day when you will actually get better, we can battle again. Although, I doubt that to happen," she says, now acting like a whole other person.

"Take that back! My bey and I are strong," I say, storming up to her.

She takes a look behind me and changes her face into a sad, teary look.

"Ken! Thank goodness, this girl is so mean to me," she cries, running over to Ken.

I stare, puzzled at all this nonsense.

"Cheer up, (e/n)," says Besu, wrapping his arms around her.

Ken eyes me, he too is puzzled.

"Just because I lost a battle doesn't give you the right to call me names," continues the lair.

"Is this true, (y/n)?" asks Keru.

"N-no Ken, it's not. She is lying!" I stutter.

Ken glances down at the crying girl, luckily wrapped in Ken's arms. She has no right to treat me like this. The boy of my dreams frowns and then walks away with (e/n). My shoulders tense up. No way, why would Ken take her side? He doesn't even know her! I can't take this.

Dashing away, I push past them and sprint. I run, not  caring where I get to. I need to just get away from this place. I think about how I wanted to ask Ken for ice-cream and now that isn't even a possibility. I open my eyes and slow down. The art room's door is glaring at me. I step inside and grab a bit of paper. Drawing those same puppets, I feel sadness overcome me. I slip in another hand. It reaches towards the puppets.

The elegant hand removes the puppets. Together the now new showing hand grabs the other hand. They hold each other;not wanting to let go. I can almost feel the warmth of Ken's hand on top of mine. Ken's hand slips and I leap for it. Away it goes, leaving me alone.

Papers surround me of the multiple pictures I drew.

"Anything a matter?" Daigo asks, looming over my drawings.

"I didn't see you here," I mumble, collecting the papers into a pile.

"That new girl used to go to Ken's old school. She must of moved here. Is that bothering you?" Daigo mentions.

"I just..." I start, but trail off.

"Go to Ken," Daigo mutters.

I look at him, confused.

"I don't want that little brat affecting my life, Ken's life or your life. Now go to Ken," Daigo says, sternly.

I think about this statement. Getting up out of the seat, I run out the door.

"Oh and Daigo, thanks," I say, peering back in.

He nods and goes back to looking out the window.

I will ask Ken to ice-cream and I will remove that girl from our lives, if my name isn't (y/n).
