Love Grows ( Ken Midori x Reader )

Tournament Begins

The news is out. The beyblade tournament will begin tomorrow, but how am I meant to focus on that right now when I must find Ken. My heart is pounding and my feet ache. Running non stop is hard, although I need to find him. I run past the ice-cream shop. I freeze. Staring through the glass I see Ken and (e/n), having a fun time. This is worse than what happened before. I slip inside and approach them.

"Hi guys, I'd like to say sorry for before, (e/n). I just was going through a lot of stress and accidentally let it out on you," I say, even though she was the bully.

Ken doesn't look me in the eye. What's going on? I 'apologized' and yet Ken still refuses to look at me!

"We were finished her anyway, right Ken?" (e/n) says, even though there is still half their ice-cream left.

He nods and stands up. After excusing himself, Ken leaves to the bathroom. (E/n) leads me outside and behind the shop. I eye her cautiously, unaware that her fist clenches.

"Look, your out of the picture (y/n). It's me and Ken now. You are just a nuisance," she says sharply.

"You don't know that! Ken and I are friends!" I snap.

"Then why was it him who told me that?" she replies, before pushing me backwards.

I tumble down into a mud puddle. Ken would never say that.

"Let me ask you something... has Ken ever talked to you? He does to me all the time," she grins.

No way Ken would ever speak to this despicable person without his puppets. Although, what if it's true? What if I was just never meant to be in this story? I get up, bruised and dirty. Shoes slide along the grass, I walk away, not daring to look back. I guess I'm defeated. That's all for me. Ken comes out of the shop and sees me.

"Nice knowing you Ken, I understand how you feel towards me," I say and then sprint off.

~Runs To The Park~

I sigh, thinking about the moment of spark between me and Ken. When we met, blading, catching me, him caring for me are all the things I just constantly think about. Now, those memories just feel like I'm drowning. Footsteps approach me and someone sits next to me.

"Hi Daigo," I say, weakly.

"I know what happened, I was in the alley behind the brick wall talking with a cat. I heard what she said. Don't listen to her (y/n). I've talked to the others; we're going to tell Ken," he states.

"But... Ken loves her, not me. It doesn't matter what we do," I say.

Daigo smiles.

"I never realized how much you like Ken," he winks.

I blush, realizing myself how much I care.

"I'm going to tell him myself, is that okay if I do?" I ask.

Daigo agrees that I should tell him.

"Daigo, your amazing," I say, before getting up to stat running again.

~Runs To The Shops~

"Ken? Why, he left to go find you a while ago," his mother says.

Right, he's probably waiting at my house. The walk there wasn't long, so I rushed through the door. I see Ken, sitting on the couch, watching the news.

"Where is mum?" I ask, striking up a conversation.

"She left. I've been waiting for you," says Keru with a grim voice.

"Ken... (e/n) isn't who you think she is..." I mumble.

Ken turns around and stares me in the eye.

"I know, after you left she came around from the corner," Keru says.

"She was crying, but I could see in your dazzling eyes who was telling the truth," Beus adds.

"Anyway, no one can 'trip into the puddle' which is what she said," Beus continues.

I remain silent. Ken knew? Then what happened?! I sit close next to Ken. His breath is warm and shaky. What's wrong with him, he seems so nervous.

"I'm sorry..." he says, without any puppets.

I can't help, but gasp slightly at how Ken has  opened up.

"All the lies she said aren't true. You are the special one in my life..." Ken continues.

I smile and blush.

"That means a lot to me Ken," I squeak.

~Later~

"See you later alligator!" Keru waves.

"Bye Ken!" I call back.

Finally, things are settled, although I still wish have the craving for him to tell me he has feelings towards me. But, who cares, all that matters is me and Ken are able to talk to each other again. Except, what's going to happen when I see (e/n) again? Fear strikes, but then I think about the tournament tomorrow, which causes me to get freaked out about that.

Then again, I can't wait!
