Some Lies are True

The morning sun glistens through my window, awakening me from my slumber. Training was intense yesterday as I recall my sudden outburst in thoughts. I brush my (h/c) hair and get dressed, unaware of the day ahead. Opening the window, I hear the distant sound of harmonized singing birds. The fresh morning glow is somehow different today. Even among the beauty of nature, something feels off.

I head out the door to find Ken sitting on the first few steps that lead out onto the quiet street. What's he doing here so early?

"Hey Ken!" I say, taking a seat beside him.

The silence kills and I feel my heart beginning to pace.

"Is something wrong?" I ask.

His face turns to mine. His usual loving smile is no where to be found and even Keru and Besu are looking down. The shining eyes I gazed into two days ago have vanished. My face drops as Ken tells me the shocking truth. His words tumble out. The more he talks and explains, the more pain I feel leaking out of both him and I.

(E/n) was right...

"Y-you're... leaving?!" I say, struggling to contain my shock.

Ken slowly nods. His eyes unable to look at me.

"My parents... they found another spot... for the puppet show..." Ken states, his voice growing cold.

As we sit in the warmth of the sunlight, my mind recalls back to when I first met Ken. Even then I knew that he was the one. He would be and always be the one who I loved. I need to tell Ken exactly how I feel...

"Ken... I..."

"I've always... always...loved you," Ken finishes my sentence.

He turns to me, his face red and a smile is soaring across his cute face.

My mind is blank. I freeze unable to respond. H-He. Loves. Me.

I was once told by my mother to always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye, but regret can last a lifetime. I guess Ken must have known this too. We gaze into each other. Like magnets we begin to lean into each other. I close my eyes as my mind drifts into an unknown place. Our lips collide. His soft lips against mine summon that same fuzzy feeling from when we first met.

Heart racing and mind flying, Ken is actually kissing me!

Finally we lean back to our own spaces. Our faces blushing in silence as we just consider what had happened in that moment.

"Here..." Ken hushes, passing me an object clutched in his hands.

A gentle bracelet is wrapped around my wrist. The twinned purple and green leather bracelet fits perfect. I gaze to Ken's wrist who has one to, but coloured with my favorite colours.

"Now we will always be twinned together, even when we are apart," Ken says.

"I really love you Ken," I say, my heart pounding.

Together we hug as the sun enters the sky.
