Benji's POV
"Benji, I know that you don't feel comfortable around alcohol, but this is my wedding we're talking about!" My mother cried in frustration.
"Mom, I don't like alcohol. I don't like drunk people. And I don't like church. Please, don't make me go." I whined, pouting my lip like a seven year old.
"Benji! What other time would you have the opportunity to watch your mother get married?!" She yelled, waving her arms in the air
"Hopefully never. I like James; we're keeping him." I said pointedly.
"Only you." She grumbles and places her palm on her forehead in hopes of calming down.
"Mom," I said gently, placing my hand on her shoulder. "I love you and James, I promise. But I don't want to go to the wedding."
"Fine, Benji. Just, leave me alone for a bit." She sighed, looking away from me. I nod, as I walk away to go upstairs to my bedroom. As I'm walking away I can't help but feel bad. She's right, this is hopefully a once in a lifetime opportunity that I am going to miss. No, Benji. Don't give in. My subconscious said. I nod to myself, and finish the ascent to my bedroom. Not too long after I hear the front door open and close, indicating that she left.
"I'll just call the gang then.." I said, whipping out my cell phone.

"Good job, Ben. We all know how much you didn't want to go." My best friend Chase said, clapping a hand on my back.
"Yeah, yeah. I still feel bad." I said, leaning back against the wall of my bedroom; surrounded by my two best friends.
"I know it's tough, but it's what you wanted so don't let her make you feel bad. It's your choice." Amy said
"Can we just stop talking about it?" I groaned, falling against Amy so that half of my body is on her lap. She smiled, and ran her fingers through my hair.
"Sometimes I wonder how you two can just be friends with the way you act together." Chase grumbled, rolling his eyes.
"We're close." I shrugged, cuddling Amy for emphasis.
"But I don't wanna be this close." Amy said, pushing me off of her.
"Fine then. I have Chase, and you ain't got nobody. Besides, who would want you when you clearly just turned down my sexy self?" I snapped my fingers in a Z formation, rolled my eyes, and wrapped my arms around Chase instead.
"Your such an idiot." Chase said in exasperation.
"No. You said it wrong. It's pronounced S-E-X-Y." I made sure to slow down my words enough for his pathetic brain to understand.
"More like M-O-R-O-N." Amy giggled.
"You two are horrible best friends." I pout and stand up to strut out of my own bedroom. I hear their footsteps behind me, and smile triumphantly.
"Anyways!" Amy screamed as we entered my living room to sit on the plush furniture. "When is the wedding, again?"
"In two days." I shrug, and turn on my Xbox so we can watch netflix.
"Two days? You should've told her that you didn't want to go at least a month ago! Damn it, Benji! When will you learn?" Amy growled, burying her face in my shoulder.
"You probably just stressed mom out more than necessary." Chase said, just stepping into the room with three sodas. And yes, he calls my mother "mom" also.
