We left and headed into the woods down the road. As soon as we could no longer see the road we shifted.  Black was jet black, larger then Ember but smaller then me. The Delta was smaller then Ember and just a standard black and tan. We ran for six hours before we started walking. Black and the Delta lead the way as Ember and I followed their path. I could tell Ember was talking in the pack link to them. Her face started to grimace. I nudged her with my shoulder. She turned to me, "It's nothing." She said shaking her head. "I don't believe you." I said trying to get her to look at me. She continued on. We walked for a while before stopping at a lake and taking a break.

Black and the other one scouted ahead as Ember and I drank water and took a load off our legs. "What's going on?" I asked again. Ember didn't even turn around this time. I stood up and walked over to her. "Hey. Earth to Ember." I said sitting next to her. She just stared off into the distance. All of a sudden I heard twigs snap from somewhere behind us. I jumped over the top of Ember. Forcing her to lay on the ground between my legs. I took a protective stance, facing the direction of the sound. I sniffed the air but i didn't recognize any of the scents. I focused on the wood line. I was growling low. All of a sudden I was hit hard on my side. I let out a yelp, I was better but not 100% healed yet. For a split second I wondered how they knew, that hit was too perfect. But before I could catch myself I had another two wolves on top of me.

Only thing running through my head was where is Ember. She seemed to disappear. I was able to shake the two and I started running around to get their attention and survey the scene. What just happened, why couldn't I sense these wolves. As one of the wolves lunged I dodged and threw the wolf aside. A few more came out of the woods. Where the hell did they come from. Where is Black, where is the Delta. Where is my mate. I could feel my anger starting to rise. As the wolves attacked I would throw one down after another. They fought differently than most wolves. Their movements more timed and synchronized. Another two lunged, first high and second low. I dodged the first but second caught my leg. I howled and grabbed the wolf, throwing him off. But damage was done, it hurt to put weight on that leg. But I would never quit.

I dodged several attacks just trying to stay ahead of their movements. Then I saw Black come out of the woods. I called to him but no response. He lowered his head and growled. The other wolves stopped and circled. Black lunged at me, I narrowly dodged and he came around again. I had no choice but to use my leg, forgetting about the pain. Using it to fuel my anger. At this point I stopped thinking, I didn't care why but I had to survive for Ember. I let Black think he had the upper hand by moving slow or just missing. But I had had enough. I let him charge again but this time I moved quickly and grabbed him by the throat flipping him on his back. He immediately kicked throwing me off. But as he jumped back up I took out his hind legs. He fell, I bounded back pinning him down.

The other wolves started to move in but Black growled, they stayed back. He turned back to me, "What are you waiting for. Alpha." He said mockingly. I growled staring him down. "Submit" I snapped. "Never." He sneered. "You'll have to kill me." He said trying to bite my legs. I grabbed his throat, clamping down hard. "Stop." I didn't release I was too high on adrenaline and anger. I started to taste blood. "STOP!" It was Ember's voice but where. I dropped Black, eyes searching the woods. Ember came running out to me burying her head in my chest. I leaned on her feeling my leg giving out. She held me up strongly supporting me. She shot daggers at Black, her eyes full of fury.
