It was about 0700, it took me 2 hours to clean up all my paw prints and for the Luna to approve. Once I
was released from my duty we had about 7 hours before the packs would meet. Meaning me and Damien only had about 5 hours to run the town and complete some scouting and other pack tasks. It was a Saturday but when you are one of the leading packs you never have a day off and your always on guard. Especially when you are the Alphas daugther.Damien and I headed out to the northern most edge of our lands and headed south for a boarder check.
We shifted and started running through the gourge. On the way we would check in with other scouts and
fill in with reports and orders. As we made our way through the outskirts of the town of brooksville, a group of scouts
approched. "Hunter! Hunter!," they called through the pack link. "We were just south of brooksvillle and
we spotted a group of 3 rogues heading into town. They smelled different than our local rogues. Thier colors were different too." They had now made it to where Damien and I were stopped.Damien growled low, "IS that how you address the soon to be Alpha." They all lowered their heads and apologized for their error. "Where did they head? I asked the leader of the group. "Into the tavern Alpha." I looked to Damien, he nodded. "Send word back to the pack. Damien and I will check it out and report back. Keep your eyes open and stay safe. Report any odd happenings." "Yes Alpha." They responded.
Damien and I headed into town. Brookesville was a smaller town, rural country. People were friendly. Some know about us most of them don't and we prefered to keep it that way. It was a safe town, front doors and vehicles unlocked. No fear or worry. Just a very simple life and town. We shifted and started walking towards the tavern. An old barn turned into a tavern. Good place for a drink, shooting some pool or just to hang out and catch up. I smelled several packs and several I didn't recognize. I looked to Damien, if we smelled them they could smell us. He nodded and we head into the tavern to get a drink. We could feel the tension, thick and heavy. Several rogue packs were gathered, just eyed us. We walked to the bar and ordered some beers. The bartender eyed us and slowly pulled the beers and set them on the counter. We leaned back and took a sip. We started talking about random things school, sports and tv shows.
The tension lessened but only slightly. Some still eyed us but most went back to darts and pool games. We paid no mind, listening and sipping our beers. After we finished our beers we thanked the bartender and headed out. As we walked away and headed to the woods. As soon as we were in the thick we shifted and ran back to the first checkpoint before we talked. "There were a lot of rogue packs meeting up." I said in pack link with Damien. "Yeah, kind of odd for so many in one place, so close to our boarders." Damien responded. "Let's head back. I think Alpha will be interested in this." I said, Damien nodded. I called to the other scouts telling them to be more vigilant and report any new sights or smells.
Back at the pack house we shifted and headed inside. Damien sat down in the living room as I headed upstairs to the Alpha's office. I knocked and waited for permission before I entered. "Hunter what brings you here. Figured you would stay far away until you had to." "Alpha, Damien and I have some troubling news from the outer boundaries." He turns in his chair and looks at me trying to read my face. I sit across from him and take a deep breath. "I know the pack confrence is about the rogues and I think they know." I look trying to read his face. Stern, unflinching. He was a larger man 6'2" and built for war. He had seen his share of death and carried his burdens alone. He was always wary and cautious, the pack always came first. "It looked like some rogue packs are coming together. We didn't get a lot of information but there were several packs I didn't recognize and they were very close with Night Stalkers and Raven's Claw."
This got a little rise but nothing anyone but me would notice. "Thank you I will take this under advisement." I know that ment it was time to leave. I bowed my head and exited; "Thank you Alpha." I walked downstairs and saw Damien on the couch watching tv. I walked to the kitchen and grabbed a sandwich and some chips. Then I headed out to the back porch and looked out across the forest. There was a cool breeze and pups were playing in the yard.
I heard tires approaching and looked at my watch, the packs are arriving. I finished my food and told the pups to head to the playground and sent the caretakers with them. I walked through the house clearing out all pack members that didn't need to be here. I then called the second line warriors back to guard the house and surrounding structures. My father and mother came down and stood out front to welcome the Alphas of other packs.
