"What am I even doing?" I rushed after my best friend after she walked out. I could still hear her distant sniffling a few feet ahead. The screeching of a door opening told me her exact location. The bathroom, of course. The door flung open as I noticed her walk in. Running after the catch the door before it shut, I called her name. Every attempt I made to grab her attention was ignored.

The sound of a bathroom stall door closing and locking made me stop in my tracks.

"Hey, Nic. It's gonna be alright.." I placed my hand on the door. "..go away." She replied in between sniffles. Instead of saying 'I told you so,' I gently asked if she could unlock the stall door. "You don't want to see me like this," was her first response.

"I'm your best friend. I want to help you, I'm supposed to." I replied while my hand simultaneously slid down the door. It was silent for a second until I heard the sound of the stall door unlock. I pushed in and shut the door behind me, locking it again.

Nicolette had her face buried in her hands. A tissue was crumbled up in her lap with black blotched over it. It was probably her mascara.

"You were right. I should've listened to you.." She said, her voice muffled from her face being buried in her hands. "See, Tristan wasn't good for you in the first place. I don't understand why you even bothered to get back with him. He probably just wanted to get in your pants, if he hasn't already." I squatted down in front of her to gently pull her hands away from her face. "You were just blinded by his ways, weren't you?"

She nodded. "Yeah, pretty much."

"Just try to get over him. Delete his number from your phone, don't try to contact him at all."

"I don't even know if I can do that yet.. I want to let him go, but I just can't."

"Wh.. what do you mean, can't?" I was confused.

"I mean, he was my first. My first love. It'll be impossible to forget him." She went to talk about what she remembered most about her relationship.

The one thing I didn't quite get was the fact that she even told me about their first time. "Didn't really need to know that part..." I scratched the back of my neck. "Sorry. I don't even know if I can let Tristan go. I loved him so, so much. Sometimes even more than my own parents, but, that's another story.

"Look, it'll be alright.. I'll help you. It might be a little difficult but you'll get through. We'll get through it." I put my arm around her and gave her a hug. I could see her smile through the corner of my eye.

"Come on, sixth period is about to start." I grabbed her hand to pull her up off the seat and head out.
