Pity

"Do you think Lochlan's mind would change?" natigil ako sa pag-aayos ng buhok ko nang biglang pumasok sa kwarto ko ang kapatid kong si Kuya Ashton, fresh my Paris.

Tumaas ang kilay ko at tiningnan siya mula sa salamin. "What do you mean change of mind?" kumunot ang noo ko.

Weeks have been passed since I heard what happened to Kuya Lochlan and to his girl. I've heard nagka-gulo pa raw sila Tita Sarah sa San Del Monte. But after how many days, the situation there becomes smooth when the girl Zarina go back here in Manila. Like Tita Sarah's reaction when she found out that nagtanan daw si Lochlan at si Zumi, Lochlan was so furious too when he heard what happened between her girlfriend and to Ate Diane. I don't know what exactly happened but I heard na-ospital raw si Ate Diane. I'm not sure what happened next but one thing I'm sure is they're trying to fix everything. In fact, pupunta rito si Lochlan para ipakilala ang babaeng mahal niya. I'm so excited to finally meet that girl.

"You know, he's a playboy. Are you convince that he really love that girl?" muli kong nilingon ang kapatid ko. Nakataas na rin ang isa niyang kilay, hinihintay ang isasagot ko.

Bumuntong-hininga ako at ngumiti. "I've known him so well, Ash. Yeah he's a typical playboy in that province but I know when he's serious in one thing. Hearing about how he fight with Tita Sarah because of that Zarina, I know he's goddamn serious," seryoso kong sabi na ikinatawa naman ng kapatid ko.

"You looks proud of him while you're talking huh? Just because you two are the same that's why?" panunuya niya dahilan para irapan ko siya. "And it's Zariah by the way not Zarina," ngumiwi siya pero hindi pa rin natatanggal yung nang-iinis niyang ngisi. "Your boy version would be mad at you by mentioning other girls name," natatawa niyang sabi bago tuluyang lumabas sa kwarto ko.

Bwisit. Minsan na nga lang kaming magkita dahil sa Paris na siya nag-aaral tas ganito pa siya sa akin. Ang hilig mang-inis.

Mariin akong pumikit para kalmahin ang sarili ko sa inis na nadarama sa kapatid ko.

It's been a week too when I last saw Dwight. It's been a week when I saw him smiled to me. How he gently treat me that day was priceless. He never say anything na ikakikilig ko pero yung hindi niya ako itinaboy at hindi niya 'ko barahin, it was all new to me. Sobrang saya ko 'nong mga panahong iyon. After our calm encounter in the bar, hindi na ulit kami nagkita. Balita ko ay naging busy na naman ulit siya sa business trip kaya wala akong nagawa kundi ang magkulong na lang sa bahay. Tinatamad rin akong gumala. I think because it's Christmas season and the weather are worth of staying at house.

It's December 23 already, everyone in our mansion was preparing for our family lunch. Kararating lang din ng mga Titos at Titas ko galing sa San Del Monte kaya naman busy-busy'han si Mommy. It's a simple lunch but because Lochlan will come together with his girl, it's became special for me or tension to Tita Sarah and Tito Richard which I've heard it's his daughter from another woman that Zania girl.

I gave my last glance to the mirror before I smiled and leave my room wearing my sweetest smile.

Pagkababa ko, naamoy ko na agad ang iba't-ibang klaseng amoy ng ulam at kung ano pa mang niluluto ng mga cook namin.
